SAINTS have reportedly rejected bids from Arsenal and Liverpool for Alex Chamberlain.

The £10m rated winger is the subject of intense interest from the Premier League's elite clubs during the January transfer window.

A national newspaper report has this morning claimed that Saints have turned down offers from the Gunners and the Reds for their 17-year-old sensation.

Both clubs are said to be willing to offer £5m up front, but Saints are supposedly holding out for more.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger and chairman Peter Hill-Wood have this week openly admitted their desire to sign Chamberlain before the transfer window shuts.

Liverpool director of football strategy Damien Comolli and manager Kenny Dalglish have both watched the player on a number of occasions over the past few weeks.

They also face competition from Manchester United, after the Red Devils contacted Saints this week about Chamberlain.
