SAINTS are hoping Jos Hooiveld will be available for next weekend’s trip to Watford, despite the defender being substituted with a hamstring problem in the win against Derby.
The centre half opened the scoring in the 4-0 rout of the Rams, but lasted just 45 minutes before being taken off.
It was only Hooiveld’s third game back following a lay-off of nearly three weeks with an initial hamstring injury.
Saints boss Nigel Adkins revealed it was the same issue that forced the Dutchman to be withdrawn at the weekend, but he is optimistic Hooiveld won’t miss Saturday’s game against the Hornets.
Adkins said: “Jos was feeling his hamstring, so hopefully it’s not too bad.
“We’ve got Aaron Martin to go in there, so every confidence.
“All being well, Jos should be available for the weekend’s game.”
Hooiveld himself said afterwards that there is “nothing to worry about” and that he was merely taken off as a “precaution”.

My own kids got great autographs and pictures, and the players were great with the kids. I was worried they might be losing touch this year, so leased to hear otherwise.
Waited after Saturdays game with Grand-children to get autographs etc.
Jos said he was taken off as precaution, as he thought he may have felt a twinge.
Then said he was over cautious & all was Ok.
Obviously all players were in good mood on leaving, & so were the kids as they got 11 players autographs.

He's got all week to rest it so let's hope he's ok by Saturday. AM is available and is well capable so no worries really. If we play like we did for the first and last 25 mins of each half on Saturday and don't take the foot off the gas for the other 20 mins each side of half time we will give watford a torrid afternoon. They are quite a good side at home and will be looking to avenge the thumping they got at St Marys. 2-0 Saints and the Woolston Connection are raring to go!! A few beers in London early on and then on to Watford COYR

I've got a good feeling for 2-0 Saints too.
