Le Tiss backs Saints' mental strength in promotion battle

Matt Le Tissier Matt Le Tissier

MATT Le Tissier believes Saints possess the mental strength needed to secure promotion to the Premier League this season.

Nigel Adkins’ men further improved their chances of reaching the top flight by demolishing Derby 4-0 at St Mary’s on Saturday to move back to the head of the Championship.

Nearest rivals West Ham can overhaul them again tonight, but even then Saints would still be left in a most enviable position.

With just over two months of the season remaining, however, the pressure in the promotion race is beginning to really intensify.

But Saints legend Le Tissier, pictured below, is confident that the club have the players to cope with the mental strain.

“I haven’t seen anything which makes me think they might be fragile in that department,” he said.

“I’m positive about everything and keeping everything crossed that we go and finish the job off.”

Le God was only doing what anyone in our family would do, try and save the thing he loved in any way possible.
Anyone can **** up, just look at the state of this country.
Le tiss sees it as it is, I totally agree. we have it in our grasp, lets get behind the lads on the pitch, in 2 months we could be one win from returning to where we belong, COYR.

His actions were of desperation to save his club, not his fault he was backing the poorer of the options, but he would not have known just how good the Liebherr package was, any more than we did.

Well, if they can gain promotion, then I wonder what would happen next season? - most promoted clubs goes straight back to Championship after next season.

I also wonder if they would follow examples of Norwich City who still around the middle of the Premier League and unlikely to go down again, just to stay in the top division?

We know there is nothing wrong with his football acumen. If he says we're going up that is good enough for me. I think the Pinnacle debacle can be put to bed now.

Had Liebherr not been around, that would have been our only option, hypothetical, but what would you have wanted, Pinnacle or oblivion? Short memories some people.
