SAINTS shouldn’t let their miserable defeat at Blackpool distract from their great position, according to Jack Cork.

Nigel Adkins’ men were well below-par at Bloomfield Road and were beaten resoundingly by the Seasiders.

However, Reading’s win at West Ham means they remain six points clear of third place and firm favourites to reach the Premier League as the season enters its final month.

Cork knows Saints can’t continue to perform like they did on Saturday, but he is also aware that they remain in pole position to go up, ahead of the last six “cup finals” of the campaign.

“If we look at it like we’re two points ahead of second and six points clear of third with six games left it’s a great position,” he said.

“The result just puts a dampener on that.

“If you look at the table and where we stand, and the games we’ve got left, who wouldn’t want to be in our position?

“It’s a great position to be in.

“We’ve got six cup finals left and we’ve just got to take them as they come.

“With the run-in we’ve got it’s not going to be easy, but we’ve just got to try and win as many games as we can and put pressureon the teams below us.”
