Norris leveller denies Saints derby win

David Norris’ equaliser deep into stoppage time denied Saints victory in the south coast derby.

Saints twice led through Billy Sharp goals but were pegged back on both occasions at St Mary’s.

Sharp’s first came after 28 minutes only for Chris Maguire’s fierce drive to level things up eight minutes later.

Saints were not at their best but thought they won it when Sharp flicked home from close range with just a minute of the game remaining, the goal initially ruled out for offside before referee Neil Swarbrick reversed the decision.

But Norris’ remarkable strike in the dying seconds of the game meant Saints had to settle for a point.

It took them back to the top of the table on goal difference, now level with second placed Reading and four ahead of third placed West Ham with five games left.

We were winning at Portsmouth and Mr Adkins brings on a substitute. Result? They score.

We were winning today and Mr Adkins brings on a substitute for Sharp. Result? They score again.

When will he ever learn?

Coupled the above with Mr Adkins obviously having no idea how to play without Lambert as at Blackpool last week and it is clear to see where the blame lies.

A "nailed on" promotion is slipping through our hands.

Oh well, not quite the result you would have wanted, but I doubt it will make much difference. Anyway, you now have the chance to tighten your grip on the title by taking Saints for a 'Holy War' against the Infidels from Croydon F.C on Monday and put a smile on our faces in the process! But BE WARNED: Selhurst Park has been designated a 'Plague Pit' by the Department of Health and you are advised to burn all clothing and shoes when you leave (the narrow medieval, streets and alleys are as good a place as any!)fail to do this and Southampton may have to endure the nightmare scenario of the Plague Carts and the requests of 'bring out your dead' resonating round the empty streets, from the drivers!! We will do our best to turn Reading over for you on Tuesday in return!

Did they come with an attitude that this was their biggest game of the season?
We have 5 games bigger than this because we are going to get promotion.
If poopey lose their next 5 they will still boast about this game.

they are going down, we are going up . why should we be downhearted ?

In anyone’s language the team fecked up today big time on the expectations of the fans.
It was in essence a typical derby game where form goes out of the window and we blew it.
The ref was an arrse, they were dirty twatts early doors and he didn’t stamp it out.
They were an embarrassment to the premiership and now to the championship, but like a hot potato they keep bankruptingly bouncing around with nobody in power having the **** to wipe them out on their watch.

A Skint club that can still loan players to come in and score goals to affect outcomes at both ends of the table is to me morally bankrupt and an indictment of the hypocrisy killing the game.

Bitter and twisted? ..... Words cannot describe it.
Having said that, I’d like to thank the Scummers for another point that will lead us to our promotion .
See you in another life Blue Few.

We are allowed to express our opinions and concerns. In my view the way to get promotion is to grap our opportunities and not throw them away; to keep harping on about ''we are top of the league'' is a bit like sitting in the smoking lounge of the Titanic watching the glasses sliding off the table and saying...NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT WERE STILL FLOATING! We can,t afford any more slip ups from here on in.

Wrong tactics second week in a row seems we are playing more direct now. Gully brings very little to the game. We are gonna miss Tad so much as he bought pace to the side.In hindsight a midfielder should have been bought in the transfer window cause we have lost midfield in a lot of games this season. Got to beat palace and Reading with the latter a big ask .

Totally believe this too. Attack and be in their faces and give them something to think about, most certainly better than allow them to be hungry to get at least some morsel out their crap season, and we did, and fair play to them they got in our faces and took their chance as they had nothing what so ever to lose! You could see it coming. We did not create pressure, we invited pressure!!

Moreover, is it me, or dose Prado really look like he dose not care, and I would go as far as to say, he looks like to me he really dose not want to be here playing for Saints? At the start of the season he scored some crucial goals, even though he seemed to be the odd cog in the team, and he always had answer to give his critics in the next game. But now, and taken into account is luck luster way of play, he really seems even more not to care like he did at the beginning of the season. Why has he not been dropped, as we need to play with an eleven committed players playing for the shirt and win this dam league!? I am even convinced that opposition teams do not worry about him and even expect him to be subbed in the second half.

I can't remember when he taken on a player and created something positive in recent games, or even made a correct pass forward to another red and white shirt. Yes he sometimes finds one passing back/side-wards, which is still not always the most convincing pass back/side-wards and shows massive signs of negative thoughts/play!

My apologies as well. I, of course, meant Adkins.

It's all history now. Throughout the season Nigel's decisions have proved to be the right ones, which is why Saints are top of the league. Who knows, if he had not made the substitution, it could have meant losing instead of drawing.

We all aim for perfection, and we all fall short by varying degrees. The league position indicates that Nigel, although not perfect, has made fewer errors than most as far as football is concerned.

If your referring to my earlier post? I suggest you read it again!

I am not a hater of Prado, and I am asking the questions only to see what other Saint fans as yourself think. But regardless of what you say, you have in your comments confirm he not playing well, as you seem to think fans are getting on his back. This can be applied to any player, but it is more important as a pro on how you respond to it and not sulk.

You will also see I have given credit to Prado for answering his critics, which you can not say he is doing now for many games now! I trust in NA more than most, though I am trying to see why NA persist with him, but I just can't and would wish NA to sit down with me over a cuppa to explain, but that is never going to happen.

I may also add that I am not one who enjoys to put a Saints player down so easily. But with Prado in so many games now he looks like he somewhere else and shows a don't care attitude. So my point is can we afford this in hopefully a title wining side, and I would say no! If he dropped it might be what he needs, and to answer you if he sold to another, at this present time I really feel it would not make us weaker. Having him mopping around on the pitch will, and again oppositions teams really don't worry about him, and just wait for the coming substitution. Why telegraph with this ploy every game.

Lastly I would love Prado to going out on Monday and score a ha-trick! I really would!! But the way he is playing he never going to get in the box to do such a thing, and I would added he not linking up with Lambert at all up front now a days.

I have saints getting 11 from 5.
West Ham getting 9 and Reading getting 5!

I know when you look at that you think "You're really biased" but truth be known look at the remaining games and you will see it. The only "banana" in the works is what happens next Friday with Reading- but we're "at home" and its not a derby- we'll win it!!

Mush on the beach, I;m afraid you are wrong, if we had broken all the rules as you suggest, we would have been further punished by the FL. The facts are that we played completely by the rules as regards loaning players, & all the other associated rules, just as your club did a few years ago but I don't denigrate your club for surviving as best you could under the circumstances, what really wrankles with you is the fact that it was one of those loanees that scored a brilliant first goal against you. Never mind, don't fret, you will still go up then you can concentrate on your own team's affairs rather than ours.
Good night John Boy, good night Mary Ellin, good night Elizabeth and good night BOBBY BOB.
Sleep well on Waltons Mountain (where it’s aperfect world).
What really wrankles me here in reality (no offence Bob) is that the laws are an arrse, as you quite rightly take advantage of them.
But I the Mush say enough is enough. You are a repeat offender and should have been relegated. Remember Leeds, Luton, Rotheram, Chester, Plymouth. They did it and some were punished far worse than you.
Have you done the time for the crime Bob? .... I don’t think so!!!
Who or what is 'Rotheram'?

To those that don't rate Guly Who should play instead? Things certainly got no better when SDR came on

the extra time added was not because of the substitution but because of the over enthusiastic fans who delayed the re-start by coming onto the pitch

I have to say, I agree on both points.

Last week, Guly was just about the only player who didn't have a mare, today he seemed okay but not the best and he immediately gets flack.

I don't remember Rickie doing that much today.

As for the sub., at the time, I thought it was a touch of genious; sub Billy and get the fans on their feet to stir that little extra passion needed for the final minutes.

I doubt people would be talking about the sub. or Guly if the match had ended 2-1.

Btw, how much time did it take to get the idiots off the pitch? I was surprised there were 4 mins of added time.

My memory is not perfect but I am sure I saw something in the papers a few years ago about Southampton FC going into administration and trying to say it was a seperate company so they were not deducted 10 points. Kettle.... Black

A glorious day for Pompey fans and thanks again to the scum fans who ran on the pitch to allow the extra time! You just can't beat us can you? 4-1 in your own backyard then a last second wonder goal to break your scum hearts. Love it. PUP

Todays weather forcast. Portsmouth. Blue sky, warm with temperatures reaching an all time high. Southampton. Dull and grey with out breaks of dribble. Misty conditions with showers of tears. Temperatures not getting above freezing. Good film on yesterday, a remake of Torpedo run! Staring Trip Lallana, called DIVE! DIVE! DIVE!

But even the most ardent hater of Southampton know it was a separate company so how does this compare to your club?
Wasn't Southampton one of the companies who you owed money too & they lost it?

Ha Ha!! It was funny to see the disappointment on your little Scummer faces just after that specatular goal from David Norris. Those 2 points you dropped could be the difference between automatic promotion and play offs. Play up Pompey and come on Reading!!
