  • "Great news. The bloke seems to have a great influence and loads of charisma.

One concern I have is the work permit issue. Reason loads of Africans go to Belgium, holland and France is the easier work permits. Not sure we will benefit that my h because of it. I expect we'll end up with a Belgium feeder club to loan them to before we can buy. I think we were in for drogba under one manager but he went to France because he couldn't come to us as a youngster.

A lot of us complain about immigration rules but try to accept allowances when it's our club and a talented kid."

Jaidi handed ambassadorial role at Saints

Radhi Jaidi Radhi Jaidi

Retiring Saints defender Radhi Jaidi has accepted an ambassadorial role at St Mary's to help develop the club's links in Africa.

The 36-year-old Tunisian is hanging up his boots this summer, after a long and successful playing career, but will remain with Southampton in a new capacity.

The popular centre half made 68 appearances for Saints, after signing in 2009 on a free transfer, but did not feature in the most recent campaign, with a knee injury wiping out much of his availability.
