LEE Holmes has agreed a two-year contract with League One side Preston.

The winger will officially move to Deepdale on July 1 after his current Saints deal expires.

Holmes was informed earlier this month that he would not be kept on at St Mary's, and was free to look for another club.

The 25-year-old said: "When you pull up at the ground, straight away you see a fantastic stadium. The feeling around the club at the minute it is hard not to feel that you want to be a part of it."

"I am really excited and it is great to be a part of what is going on at Preston North End."

Holmes had ended the season on loan at League Two outfit Swindon, who he helped gain promotion into the third tier. Before that, he had a short spell at Oxford United.

In total, Holmes made 43 appearances for Saints, scoring three times.
