Aaron Martin joins Crystal Palace on loan

Aaron Martin Aaron Martin

SAINTS defender Aaron Martin will join Crystal Palace on a season-long loan deal, the club has confirmed.

The 22-year-old centre half will link up with the Championship side for the 2012/13 campaign in order to gain more first team experience.

Martin has made 29 appearances for Saints since joining the club from non-league side Eastleigh in 2009.

He is under contract at St Mary's until 2014.

Oooh, that must mean we're getting another CB in surely?

I wonder who it'll be?!

Good luck Aaron - be good to get a run of games.

I guess we can presume a deal for at least one centre-back is lined up then. I like Martin, and think he could definitely be pushing for a starting place in a year or twos time. Could this be part of a deal for Zaha? Good luck at Palace Aaron!

Certainly must have someone
lined up.If he had played for us in the Prem. I think he would have been OK but a season of
regular first team football can
only improve him.
Good luck, Aaron, see you in
2013/4.

Didn't see this coming. We needed one more with him in the squad so surely two now? I know he's still cutting his teeth but he is 22 and not 18.

Must be getting someone else otherwise this to me is a strange one, if I'm not wrong he doesn't count in the squad (25) because of his age.

In Nigel we trust and all that, but it's a bit odd.

Good move ... He is good for a full championship season but not ready for premier .. and how would sitting on the bench help him? See where we are in 1 year on this one ... Good luck Aaron

Nothing strange about this move he is a promising young defender who will be a Premier league player in a few years time at the moment this will really help his development is not quite good enough as we need more experience in the first team he will get some valuable experience and in two years time this lad will be starting for us in the prem.

I honestly did not see this one coming. Nigel must be planning a move for a right sided centre back. Read that Houghton is going to take Curtis Davies to Norwich. So than might be the one which got away. I also heard that Matt Mills is not happy at Leicester city prehaps Nigel might go for him. I can see Martin coming back from Palace at the end of the season, it will be a good learning curb for him. Prehaps it is a sweeter to get Clyne or Saha. I still think we will sign Butland.

.... or both!

Forget Matt Mills, seems to be disruptive and is sent off too often.

RED ARMY RULE THE SOUTH.

We're getting our Striker in with Jrod - Hooper would have also been good ...

We need to secure a Top Goalkeeper with ENGLAND connections ...

Then in for a new CB ( to replace Jaidi) but also to drive into the space left by Jose Fonte inconsistent performance last season. At League One Level he was fantastic - and against lowly Coventry - but let himself down when he struggled by going for the man rather than the ball.
This is an essential purchase - getting in a new CB.

The whole Defence needs a review and getting an established RB is the right thing to do - Danny Butterfield will not cope with the pacy attacks in the Premiership.

Finally a pacy Goal Scoring Quality Midfielder supplying our Strike Force will help our cause.

If we had got in Hooper - then we would have had a formidable line up.

WE GO INTO NEXT SEASON FEARING NO-ONE HOME AND AWAY.

In the South and London WE ARE RED ARMY - and we will send wet spam and chelski packing.

Don't mention those plastic wannabe reading fans - they are a joke :O) LOL (Stop it my sides are hurting)

RED ARMY 2012. FIGHT AND WIN. COYR.
