First published in Saints News

Saints have announced the details of their under-21 side's pre-season programme.

The development team will play a trio of away fixtures, against Sholing, Winchester City and Sunderland, as they prepare for the new campaign.

Coach Martin Hunter's squad are due to visit Sholing on Tuesday, July 10 (kick-off 7pm). They will then travel to Winchester City on Tuesday, July 17 (kick-off 7pm).

And they will round off their programme with a behind-closed-doors friendly against Sunderland on Wednesday, August 1 (kick-off 1pm).

Not the most exciting news, but if that's all there is then lets all soak up the full details.

We must all surely make a serious protest about the match that is behind closed doors at Sunderland. Don't believe the cover story about cutting costs as its just a practice match and only a hundred people will show up anyway. Nonsense !! Pronciples are at stake here. Why announce a match that can't ???
NC banned photographers but it now looks like Sunderland are banning spectators too. Clearly it's the first step in a ploy by the TV companies to completely control how we watch football.

Full story in tonights Daily Echo ?? I doubt it.

Good to read on the OS that ex-Saint Jamie White has managed to continue his playing career. If I remember corectly, he was tipped to have a big future whilst at Saints, winning academy player of the year and was top scorer, until a serious injury put his career in doubt. 51 goals in 32 games is pretty good, even at that level, and he could yet make it in the Football League. Shame he's moved to Salisbury now so he won't be playing us.

for christ sake this is a football site so please keep the post's football related.any way the weather at the moment in southampton would suit a striker in the vein of rickie. the risk of showers will make handling the ball difficult to most keepers not as good as K.D. the temp is moderate which will keep the powerhouse midfielders cool.

Has anyone seen the news that three water companies are dropping their hose pipe ban due to the recent rain? This is excellent news for us should we be thinking of luring anyone in from one of the big North West clubs where water is plentiful and lawns are green.

Actually, maybe that's why J Rod has finally put pen to paper after all this time - that man bloody loves his gardening. In fact his motto is 'The fuschia's bright - the fuschia's red and white'.

Seems to me somebody got out of the wrong side of the bed this morning and needs a large dose of football.

Surely mid June would be at Noon so we have 35 mins to wait?

I think I may have been away from Blighty too long as I must confess I didn’t realise we had an under 21 team. I only remember there being a reserve team. Can someone please explain the intricacies and are there any budding talents pushing for the reserve or even better to the first team?
