I thought exactly the same - but more about fans moaning about the cost of a ticket - then getting to SMS with the bonfires out of control and the firemen getting in their way!

Whatever happened to Catherine Wheels and Jumping Jacks? All went up in a puff of smoke...just like the football on Saturday campaign! Still we won't be playing on Friday nights again for a while!

Great that the Man City game will be televised. Our shock victory there will be all the more significant for having a huge audience. In particular our third goal, resulting from a mesmerising piece of wizardry from Lallana and a spectacular Lambert header, will deserve half a billion viewers minumum.

Presume we'll also be able to wear our predominently red kit so it's seen by many millions on TV across Asia. Red is THE colour for attracting fans in Asia (where colour matters hugely) and I'm sure this influenced the choice. If Tadanari Lee gets a look-in at City, shirt sales in Japan will soar.

What a day - three points and a commercial coup to boot.

Am I the only one a little worried about getting in some more top class players in?
Kelvin has been excellent but need another top keeper, and defensive back up for Hoover and Fonte... and maybe a creative midfielder?

Man City might be a bit of a step up but I'm confident.

Always struggle in our first game of the season and (generally) do not perform well on TV. Man City gets rid of two hoodoos in one go!

If last year's first game of the season (v Leeds and on telly)is anything to go by, we'll be fine!

Even though I of course would have loved to live in Southampton and watch all the games at SMS, the next best thing is in fact to live in Norway, as I may see all Southampton games on tv.

And how I'm looking forward to go to the local pub, crowded with fans from the other team, (that will count for whomever Sotons playing) singing and shouting as we score goals. And all of this wearing the lovley new shirt.

Regarding the new shirts, I urge all fans to give credit where it belongs this season. Yes, there are many who should be credited for Southampton finally being back, but I for one will have Liebherr printed on the back, with Number 1. It would be a really nice way for us to show our gratitude, if Liebherr would be one of the most popular prints, alongside Lallane, Lambert, J-Rod and so on.

I don't mind when away games get moved for TV. If I can’t make them it’s nice to be able to watch The Saints in the Pub or sprawled out on the sofa. Happy days!

I don't agree with your premise. Given we have one of the best academies in the land I think we can easily produce half a dozen Premiership-standard footballers.

Besides, I don't think anyone is going to stick dogmatically to some 50% quota. It's more a general objective than a strict directive. If the homegrown players aren't ready then of course we'll look elsewhere to maintain Premiership status.

Won't be watching that then as won't subscribe to that mans satalite stations what so ever! Sorry Saints but here's one fan that won't be watching!

All these game changes makes a mockery of the Echo story from earlier today, which said

"SAINTS fans could enjoy just as many traditional Saturday afternoon kick-offs in the Premier League as they did in the Championship".

You just can't make it up..whoops perhaps they did!

We need to buy in at least 2-3 players with top level experience to stay in premiership.
It is not unrealistic that over the next 4 seasons we will blood one youngster a season into the squad and team.
But need experienced top players to compliment that.
Stevie Williams learnt a lot from the likes of Osgood and Charlie George, though George's knee shortened his career with us.
Yes we have some good players who will make it at this level but we need a few players proven at this level to take us that step further. Survival has to be the name of the game this season.
Reading and West Ham have both been busy on the transfer market already.
Seems strange to write an article saying most games will be 3pm saturday and then the next see 5 changes to different days by the end of november

Going back to Nick Holmes, then Steve Williams, in the late 70s - early 80s, there was (I'll need help here) Waldren, Agbula, Andrewjeski, Baker (G), Baker (S), Moran, Funnell, Hebberd ...... and we could add Channon after he came home from your neck of the woods.

Now that's impressive but how many at most played in the same side at the same time?

Meanwhile, rather than playing against the best that the UK and Ireland could produce (and Ivan Golac), Premiership teams are now competing against teams comprised of world-class players. Just how many homegrown players can you let loose at once in that context?

Put another way, in any one season, what is the highest number of 'locals' that manure have ever fielded? As many as six?

You could indeed be right, but don’t forget:
You can't win anything with kids (Alan Hansen 1995–96), United won a league and cup double that season.
I’m not stupid enough to be predicting that, but I believe if the youth are good enough they are old enough. As it goes, I am fairly stupid though, I put my money on Black Caviar but that’s another story.

Maybe Lee Sharpe, too, though he came from Torquay, didn't he?

It's impressive but they don't manage this every season. I still think 6 on a regular basis is ambitious. Then again, there's nothing wrong with ambition.

Game is scheduled to be shown on Fox Soccer Channel in the US, will be watching for sure with some fellow ex-pats here in New Jersey. Saints coverage in the US was sparse while in the Championship and League 1, I for one am grateful for all the access I can get to the Saints on tv.

Permit me to go on an off piste slalom of thoughts.
I find the joyful conundrum of communication over the internet a curious thing. On the whole we are all anonymous to each other, but we all share a passion of singularity to our beloved Saints from all corners of the globe.

The weird thing is that it is a one dimension where now and again people feel insulted and
violated by others as you do now..... Sometimes this can be right, but mainly I say wrongly as I say you are feeling it wrongly now. People cannot always interpret the humour / light heartedness on the internet that the messenger is trying to communicate. It wouldn’t happen if you were sat face to face in a Pub.

I’ll give you some examples of people I don’t know bit I trust would not take offence to the odd light bit of banter:

I think Seedhouse is a Tory Twaat, with CRABS.
At School, Slugger used to play in sandpits up until the age of 15.
Strasbourg read animal **** behind the bike sheds and became inspired to become a teacher of literature.
St Retford needs to get a more demanding job to get him off here 24/7.

LeoSaint, have a great time on the West Coast. I've never been to Yosemite Park but it must be amazing, like watching a Ron Davies header, a pin-point Terry Paine cross, a Matt Le Tiss special and a Bobby Stokes Wembley winner all in one.

My Portuguese loved one is taking her Mum to Madeira next week. So, if you see two women (mother and daughter) looking totally lost (can't be related to Vasco de Gama), drinking all the wine (might be related to Oliver Read) and bullying the shopkeepers into reducing everything by 80% (might be The Don's Portuguese cousins!), then that'll be them and I apologise now.

Permit me to go on an off piste slalom of thoughts.
I find the joyful conundrum of communication over the internet a curious thing. On the whole we are all anonymous to each other, but we all share a passion of singularity to our beloved Saints from all corners of the globe.

The weird thing is that it is a one dimension where now and again people feel insulted and
violated by others as you do now..... Sometimes this can be right, but mainly I say wrongly as I say you are feeling it wrongly now. People cannot always interpret the humour / light heartedness on the internet that the messenger is trying to communicate. It wouldn’t happen if you were sat face to face in a Pub.

I’ll give you some examples of people I don’t know bit I trust would not take offence to the odd light bit of banter:

I think Seedhouse is a Tory Twaat, with CRABS.
At School, Slugger used to play in sandpits up until the age of 15.
Strasbourg read animal **** behind the bike sheds and became inspired to become a teacher of literature.
St Retford needs to get a more demanding job to get him off here 24/7.
Mack Chinnon shags your girlfriends.
Fatty X Ford Worker is the soul reason why the Transit van died in Eastleigh.
REDARMY 1, he was Sluggers best mate in the sandpit.
The OLD SFC Fellas play Bingo on Wednesday and Sundays.
Oh the list goes on of glorious different personalities to whom I adore their opinions and comments on here and probably insult now and again. Never take anyone too seriously or too directly

Some are missing the point when saying how many academy players teams average in their first team and saying ours is no better.

We've produced far more than most but our previous league position and finances stopped us from keeping them. If we're serious about stopping that then I believe we can achieve the target.

Fox Soccer Channel or ESPN (2) will show the game. If you are in LA the best place to watch is the Old Kings Head in Santa Monica.

I want to see the pics of the all the overseas fans in Madiera, California etc on Echo Saints Facebook group.. would be great to meet you guys.. Our Kiwi Contigent put up sing sing videos etc.. we're a gobby lot even though Rob is back in Blighty. Best thing about being in NZ..is we aren't likely to catch crabs of Seedy and our pies are full of real meat. Up The Saints.. Together to Europe!!!

Try Googling something like 'soccer live feeds'. You'll get a drop down list. A reliable one seems to be First Row (www.thefirstrow.eu)

Normally, on here, on match days, overseas fans share any links they can find, so check in here if Fox Soccer Channel or ESPN can't help you.

Of course, some weeks we're out of luck and there's no live streams but other weeks we get lucky.

When games are screened by Sky etc. there are usually a few options.

Of those options, some will want you to register but others don't seem to be so fussy.
