My comment that Saints were probably aware of this has been echoed on the Norwich site as they have also signed an exRanger.
the general opinion is that tough on Rangers but so what !
My point is that all these players were offered a get out that favoured the players and was extremely generous. Rangers are skint and would have sold Steve to us no problem.
Currently they have a squad that is extremely thin and no money to replace the players who have left, much the same situation as Poopey.
Sympathy is rare, most other Scottish clubs are gloating at the demise and slapping each other on the back at getting them chucked out od the SPL.
The most often repeated phrase is "sporting integrity".
Now that Rangers have said they want to go to the 3rd league and the tv money will be affected, these clubs are not quite so sure as they will lose a small fortune and now they want Rangers in div 1 .
Whatever league they end up in they need players or money to buy them.
It is my expectation that Saints new all this and have done the first part of the transfer knowing that a small compensation will be due.
When they know how much I bet they go back and get McGregor.
Different topic, Brum goalkeeping coach has joined Norwich and they think that they could persuade Butland to join even with Ruddy there !
Wee bit biased there Daddy boy.

The players took up to a 75% pay cut in Feb on the understanding that the Club would be free of debts via a CVA in July. They would get a reduced transfer fee clause as a thank you.

Turns out there was no CVA & the Club was effectively liquidated. The Newco didn't follow TUPE rules or timescales, and didn't even bother to keep the players informed. They merely told them they now worked for Newco. They couldn't tell them what League they would be in or guarantee their wages would be put back to normal.

This is a scare tactic to get any money they can. They have various other threats doing the rounds as well. All will fail.

Nobody has asked Rangers this question. If the whole Scottish League will face "Armageddon" should they be put in Div 3, how come you said a few years ago that Rangers/Celtic joining the English set up would actually BENEFIT the SFA ?

95% of Scottish Fans want them in Div 3. The vast majority of their own agree BUT not for "sporting integrity" reasons. They believe the rest of the League will crumble without them & see it as REVENGE. Even Saints are on the Rangers fans forum "hit list" because you cancelled the tournament !!

They are full of sh1t & believe me, there is FAR more to come out........."

New signing Davis refused Saints clearance

Steven Davis Steven Davis

New Saints signing Steven Davis has been refused international clearance to join the club.

Davis was one of a number of players at Glasgow Rangers who refused to have their contracts transferred to a newco Rangers, and therefore felt able to leave on a free with their deals effectively terminated.

The Northern Ireland captain agreed a three year deal to move to St Mary’s, but the SFA have refused to grant the required international clearance for the switch to be ratified.

The SFA have to contact the selling club to get their agreement for the transfer and Rangers have objected to the move of Davis, and several of his former colleagues who have also agreed deals to join other clubs after leaving the beleaguered Ibrox outfit.

Saints are able to appeal to FIFA for a temporary licence so Davis can remain with the club while the world governing body make a ruling on the situation.

When contacted by the Daily Echo, Rangers confirmed: “The SFA have already confirmed that they will not release an International Transfer Certificate to any National Association that requests it and have referred the matter to FIFA.”
