Alexander Büttner's proposed move to Southampton looking 'uncertain'
9:09am Tuesday 10th July 2012 in Saints News
By Gordon Simpson, Senior Sports Reporter
Alexander Büttner
VITESSE Arnhem have revealed the transfer of Alexander Büttner to Saints is now "uncertain".
The Dutch side have blamed demands made by a "third party" which they say they will not be pressurised into accepting.
Vitesse have confirmed that Saints have acted "absolutely correctly" in their approach to the deal and are not to blame if it falls through.
A statement from the club said: "The transfer of Alexander Büttner to Southampton FC is now uncertain.
"Last Friday Vitesse came to an agreement with Southampton about the transfer of Alexander Büttner to the Premier League club.
"Because Büttner himself also agreed on his personal conditions with Southampton FC, Vitesse was in the supposition that the transfer was a fact, with the proviso that Büttner would pass a medical examination.
"However, in the course this weekend the player informed Vitesse via his agent that a third party had a supplementary demand towards the club.
"Vitesse gave to understand to the player that it would not comply with that demand, since it was applied in retrospect and Vitesse will not be pressurised.
"Vitesse is disappointed about the course of things, all the more because Vitesse negotiated with Southampton FC on the player's request.
"Southampton FC has taken up an absolute correct position and is not to blame for the possible fall through of the transfer. Vitesse have also tried all possible to keep the set deal going."

What is more Saints are unlikely to get Butland unless he slams in a transfer request.

Ordered mine last week online but a glitch in the system meant that only £1 was taken from my bank account for 2 season tickets. Thought I'd got lucky;) Rang them to find out when they will be sent, was told of a problem.
Sorted now though :)
If this has happened, You will need to give them your details again so they can take the correct amount.
They said that they will be contacting others that it affected, from today.

If Buttner has history with an undesireable - then he doesn't appear to be the sort of player we want at our club.

Don't think this will scupper the deal. I also read somewhere that Buttner can play at right back so sounds like he has decent versatility that we need and would hampen the development of Shaw.

His agent must have thought Mr Cortese was soft touch, Vitesse won't pay him, I bet his agent thought Saints would.
Hahaha Mr Agent your player goes nowhere, you get no money, your player doesn't get his dream move to Saints.
Well done Mr Cortese and Vitesse, why should clubs pay players furthering their careers?

Cortese and Vitesse seem to be behaving with suitable integrity and would surely have known about sell on clauses - so who else has in interest ?
Life was much simpler when agents weren't involved.
Q: What do you call 500 agents drowning in the English Channel ?
A: Not enough.

Only that it reminds me that there are people other than clubs, players and agents expecting a payout.

Have n't read all comments on here but, simple answer from NC would be to tell him to **** off, deals off!!. Says something about a players personality when he starts making demands on a club he has recently served, and would probably try the same stunt with SFC if the club needed to get shot of him. How soon would it be before he was making demands here. Still NC is no fool, might just cut him off and look elsewhere.

You can't just sack them you have to buy yourself out.
I think the player and his agent might have been surprised by a little clause in the contract that may have been triggered by his initial call up to the national side or something. The agent's manager may have spotted this.
