Saints' Danny Fox earns Scotland recall
7:00am Tuesday 7th August 2012 in Saints News
By Adam Leitch, Chief Sports Writer
Danny Fox
Danny Fox ’s fine Saints form has been rewarded by a Scotland international recall.
The 26-year-old left back is in line for his first Scotland cap in almost three years after he was named in Craig Levein’s squad for next week’s friendly against Australia at Easter Road.
Fox picked up his only cap to date in a 3-0 defeat to Wales during his brief stint at Celtic but looks set to add to that as Rangers left-back Lee Wallace misses out.
Fox makes the cut after an excellent season at Saints as they won promotion to the Premier League .

Good on ya though Dannyboy, great player in my opinion and you've got to be proud to be picked for your (or someone else's) country...

And, according to “In That Number ...” (Hagiology Publishing 2003 – available from all the best local bookshops and Saints Megastores), he was the only Saint to represent Scotland during the 20th century. So well done Danny.

I think you could be right on that one Dave. Though we have had some good Scottish players in our time. I think Hugh Fisher, Jim Mcalliog and Jimmy Steele were Scottish.
Anyway well done Foxie and good luck.

Whilst I'm at it... is Punch gonna feature much do we reckon? On pre-season form he's an awesome cheap option (as is Billy Sharp!) but I'm not sure either will get loads and loads of game time - they are both rotation players, right?
Help me out fellow Saints fans in the know! :)

I think Eric Martin made the Scotland squad but never actually played.I always rated the ginger haired keeper. Took over from another Scottish keeper called Cambell Forsyth.

I'm thinking of having Fox or Clyne in my Fantasy Football team at wrok, they cost the same.. who would be the better choice? I think Clyne might play more games, but then Fox is more attack-minded I'd've thought and may even sometimes play in the winger role (ie. assists!)

An amazing achievement for somebody who was playing in central midfield!
When he switched to full back he let himself down badly. Sometimes he touched twice every 20 minutes.
I miss those days.

No doubt the famous experts at Newspaper House have, as ever, all the facts at their fingertips and we can look forward to an extensive Simon Carter exclusive on all the Saints who played for Scotland in this weekend's Pink.

I stand to be corrected, but I think that makes him the first Saints’ player to be capped for Scotland since Ian Black in 1948.
