Armstrong believes GB Olympic spirit would benefit Saints
7:00am Saturday 11th August 2012 in Saints News
David Armstrong
David Armstrong believes Saints should be inspired by Team GB as they prepare to begin the new season with a tough examination of their Premiership credentials.
The former Saints and England midfielder reckons adopting the same attitude of Great Britain’s Olympic heroes is the best way to cope with a start to the season that reads: Man City (a), Wigan (h), Manchester United (h), Arsenal (a).
Beating Wigan is clearly Saints best chance of getting three points during their first month back in the top flight.
Even that will be far from easy against a side that won seven of its last nine games at the end of last season – including victories over Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool.
But Armstrong believes adopting Team GB’s approach to competition will stand Saints in good stead. “Our Olympic athletes are an inspiration,” he said. “I’m always hooked to the television whenever the Olympics come round, it’s always an inspiring event and the positive mental attitude of our gold medal winners is what Saints will need back in the Premier League .

Training matches for the players to prepare for the new season. The clubs are charging a fairly high premium to watch and people are staying away. I see no problem with that but one things for certain when Wigan come to town two weeks todays St Marys will be sold out unlike that derelict old building you lot play in

Has anyone read about the story about our alleged illegal approach for blackpools Matt Philips? Sounds like sour grapes to me, holloway has had a grudge against us since we stuffed them in the cup when they were in the premiership. But he would be a great signing, pace and good delivery, something we are definitely lacking in on the wings.

I reckon it's holloway being a c**k again, but I also would be surprised if we did make an illegal approach. Was also surprised by the amount we paid in fees to agents recently. But, Phillips and Jarvis, maybe a big double signing, now that would be a capture!

I'm afraid it just isn't going to happen, Pompey fans. Sorry, but you're doomed now. It may take a year or two for Chanrai to rape what's left of your club to get as much money out as he can but the crash at the end of that time is going to be simply horrific.
As for Laffayear, why do you rise to him? Ignore him and he'll drift away.
