BUT, going back to my first point, any criticism of Nigel comes on the back of getting the starting line up right and, had we won (or drawn) we wouldn't be spending too long this PM questioning the subs.

Harsh lessons are being learnt and there are a lot of positives to take into the break.

Your comments about the defence are a bit muddled, coped well but gifted 3 poor goals. Wasn't too concerned about a new left back but can see why some dont like fox.

Absolutely PATHETIC!!! Now being able to see that Guly is not premier league quality, and is the only person who pulls on a Saints shirt and does not give 100% is racist? WTF!! It is time all you Guly lovers that post on here (never met one in the flesh) accept that the great majority of REAL Saints fans do not appreciate the contribution (if you can call it that) that he makes to the team and NA needs to stick to the team who play with passion, i.e. every other player in the current squad

The fans of the most successful clubs get behind their team no matter what. Perhaps if more Saints fans could get some perspective and not want to throw the baby out with the bath water just because we tired and made a few mistakes in the closing stages of the game, there is a chance that we could join that elite. I bet if Man Utd had lost today, their fans wouldn't have gone straight on to the fan sites berating Ferguson and his team, because they know one blip does not make a season.
It takes more than a good team, a good manager and a good chairman to be successful. It takes committed supportive fans to make it work. So perhaps you could all try and remember that next time things don't go our way or you don't agree with a decision or an action. A lot of my fellow Saints fans posting on here make me ashamed to be classed in the same bracket with you. Your narrow vision and selective viewing from today's game is appalling.
We played a blinder today and every one of our players gave his all, each one making a number of telling contributions throughout the game.
It was a case of fine margins for how we lost today and it wasn't the fault of any of the subs or any of our players in particular and it was certainly nothing to do with our manager's decision making.
We were on the back foot before the subs were made for reasons that are more than things within Saints control. Ferguson knows a few things about winning games too, or do all the know alls on here think his team didn't come into the equation?
It might be easier to try and pin the blame on a specific player or on a specific decision, but it isn't like that and that is why I am eternally grateful that Adkins is our manager rather than any of you posters on here.
Adkins was imploring the team to push out towards the end, before the substitutions, and not get pegged into their area but they couldn't do it. He had to change something and freshen up the attack. Sadly, it wasn't quite enough, but we will learn from it and we will get better at dominating the best teams in the land, which we demonstrated we can do today.
The fans of the most successful clubs get behind their team no matter what. Perhaps if more Saints fans could get some perspective and not want to throw the baby out with the bath water just because we tired and made a few mistakes in the closing stages of the game, there is a chance that we could join that elite. I bet if Man Utd had lost today, their fans wouldn't have gone straight on to the fan sites berating Ferguson and his team, because they know one blip does not make a season.
It takes more than a good team, a good manager and a good chairman to be successful. It takes committed supportive fans to make it work. So perhaps you could all try and remember that next time things don't go our way or you don't agree with a decision or an action. Reserve your judgement until the end of the season and until then, zip it, find the positives and get behind the team.

I have done a 400 mile round trip today to watch saints play for the first time, and it was out of this world. Thought we were excellent. Then i come on to read the comments and there is nothing but moaning and slagging off.

thing is that we all make our own minds up , i say again that in my experience the vast majority of fans that were actually there were gutted but proud ........... fair play for the 400 mile round trip ...... bet you do it again !

I was there and loved the game but when punch and adam went off I said straight away not sure about this?? I have never slagged Nigel before he is a great manager but I AM allowed to comment if i disagree it is a free country isnt it? and if any **** says i should support the skunts for voicing an opinion look out

I honestly believe the ref gifted the game to Sir Alec as a 1000th game present. However we must ask was there a problem with the turf in that one slippery patch or was it just stud selection... slips cost two goals

no i feel you are wrong to say that fans who are anti guly might be racist! you say that you hope there isnt a trend forming, well punch caused his own problems trying to be the big i am, turning up at qpr and asking if he could join on loan! whilst he was there and did that i didnt like him and wanted him out of our club for good! as soon as he said sorry to nc, then that was good enough for me and i will support him again (though i still dislike what he did). i suspect many might feel the same. guly is seen by some to be lazy, which if was the case na wouldnt pick him, thats why some dislike him. to assume that it might pass on to other players due to race/colour is making a huge leap though! players of any colour take abuse from fans and whilst a very very few may be racist and i do say may, i doubt that more than a handful are. so to make a statment that some are abused might be for racist reasons is in my book wrong! i have been to many many games and not since the late 70 early 80s have i heard racist abuse. i feel football has done wonders to stop that abuse and accusations like yours based on your assumptions and gueswork push back that work.
if you have any evidence of racist abuse then report it with my full backing, i would do the same.
you can disscus any concerns you like here thats why i like this site, however i said you should apologise because of the nature of your accusation. you cant just go around calling people racist without proof. that is almost as bad as racism itself.
you should read a few more of the post around this site about how fox and fonte are carp and should not play either, they take about the same abuse as guly. abusing any player is wrong imo, lets get behind the team and cheer them all on.

Seedhouse, you always make sence... i started to read the comments but gave up... We played a blinder today, even on Five Live after the match Man U supporters praised us for the way we played. Fonte did look nervous today and gave it the big hoof far more than he usually does. A good coach will always tell you to stand tall in the box and dont dive in which is exactly what Jos did'nt do and gave away the needless penalty. But my biggest concern today was Kelvin Davies, he just causes panic at every opportunity, his kicking and distribution for a professional footballer are woeful considering he is practising this seven days a week.Please NA give Gazzaniga a go and really cant be any worse, but I will finish on a positive as NA would say, we will kick on from today and I am confident our first win is not far away. where are these facts printed as i would love to read them so as to make my own opinion, i went by the facts printed by the echo on this site. as for being gulys pr agent etc. i have said on many occasions that i am no big fan of guly. i think he is an ok player, i feel he has been played out of position too often which doesn`t help. i have seen guly have some shocking games for saints, as have most players, what happens to guly though is wrong, singling out him for criticism all the time. he has been blamed for every loss this season (and at the end of last). when he did ok in the first 2 and had very little to do with yesterdays, i also said i wouldnt have played him yesterday, i would have brought lee on instead hitting a tired utd back 4 with pace, though that might have led to us losing by more who knows, i do know that i am glad i am not the manager and i dont have to make these choices.

Could cite a catalogue of games last season where Guly's goals assists or creative play won us points and was the difference, especially early season.His layoff to De Ridder v Reading away, and his headed winner v Coventry away were sublime bits of skill.

Fascinating that 7 of those who played today were playing for us in the third tier 2 years ago. Pardew and Adkins have done very well to buy and/or bring on these players.
