Southampton keen on signing Christchurch's Harry Cornick

Harry Cornick Harry Cornick

SAINTS and Stoke City are chasing one of the hottest teenage properties in south coast football.

And Bournemouth are also interested in Harry Cornick, who plays for Christchurch in the Sydenhams Premier Division.

The 17-year-old has attracted a number of scouts to Hurn Bridge this season following a string of impressive performances.

The sought-after winger/striker, from Poole, is also currently the subject of seven-day approaches from Dorset non-league rivals Poole Town and Dorchester Town.

However, Kemp says Cornick is keen to continue his studies and could opt to stay with Priory for at least another month before making a decision on his future.

Kemp said: “Stoke have had him watched, AFC Bournemouth have invited him to go to their development academy and Saints have been in touch to say they are going to watch him over the next two weeks to see what they think of him.

“There is a high level of interest.

“The one thing we are very concerned about is that everybody will want to make a buck out of him.

“When you are hot property, you are hot property.

“He doesn’t get paid for us and is on non-contract terms.

“He realises his best option is to be a non-contract player because he is then free to make his own choices.

“The fact is we would like to get a friendly out of whatever happens – if he decides to move on – as well as some recognition and, maybe, a small donation towards our new changing rooms.”

Christchurch have seen former stars Michael Green (Port Vale) and Ben Dickenson (Brighton) earn chances in the professional game in recent years.

But while Kemp believes Cornick is another bright prospect, he says he will not be rushed into a decision.

He added: “I am getting phone calls almost daily.

“I involve his dad in all the chats and I think he has pretty much come to the conclusion that he is going to take a month because there is just so much happening.

“It is very early days.

“The good thing with Christchurch is there is no pressure on him.

“But the general consensus is that – without bigging him up too much – at this age, he is better than Ben Dickenson.”

When asked about Cornick, Paul Groves confirmed Cherries were keen to monitor the local nonleague circuit.

The Cherries boss said: “What you try to do is make sure you cover everything in your area and don’t miss anything in your area.”

Why are they chasing him? is a shoplifter or a burgler running away..?

If not why not pick up the phone or drop by his house and have a chat...I do not see that chasing the poor lad will make him sign, probably frighten the life out of him.

Come on if someone started chasing you up the street would you think they wanted you to a) play for another football team or b) it was a potential mugging.

I've been told the club have put Hants and Dorset midwives on commission retainers to tip them off when likely-looking criiteria-meeting babies are born. We signed Alan, a 3 day old at Bournemouth General on Wednesday.

I understand we have also bought frozen sperm from 14 leading international players and it is now in test tubes with eggs bought from leading female Olympic gold medal winners. All participants have pre-signed the embryos to our academy.

Fantastic long term strategic planning.

As a fully committed Saint I have sent Nicola a tissue with a sample of my own for evaluation and have told him there will be no charge and no offence taken if it is deemed not quite up to scratch.

Todays dry humour is tomorrows wet dream.

It's scary but in a few years they will probably actually do this for real. (If they are not already ??) You can easily imagine all top clubs taking the necessary samples from the best players and storing them with the long term intention of cloning.

It is just a stretch of the imagination today but if there are millions of pounds to be made then this will happen.

Players will all be looking to add the necessary tadpole clause in their contracts so they can take the samples with them when they get transferred.

Confucious you have started something here.

In Oz we have a rule in AFL called the Father Son Rule, where a team has preferential recruiting access to the sons of players who have made a major past contribution to the team.
With that in mind, how is Le Tissier’s son coming on? He banged in a hat full in on Matt’s testimonial.
Ramirez will be having kids soon, remember to lock it in.

Btw, it’s the start of the AFL finals over here, a bit like the Championship play-offs. Please share a positive vibe to assist my beloved Fremantle Dockers on their way to the Premiership.

I believe that latter point was all down to someone in Portsmouth with no honour whatsoever coming up with the theory that there was once a union called the Southampton Company of Union Men (can you see what they've done there?) who voted to scab on the dockers of Portsmouth during a strike. This, they say, gives a historical legitimacy for calling us "scummers" and also justifies all their vitriol against us.

They don't seem to be deterred in the least by the fact that there is no historical evidence whatsoever that a Southampton Company of Union Men ever existed, nor the fact Southampton workers have not once scabbed on them. It's actually quite a shameful lie, but what else would you expect?

also these FACTS are posted by the bestest best ever best fans in the bestest world bestest ever best tm.
may i just point out that i never saw any evidence to back the claim however they put FACT in caps and that should be enough!

I believe I’ve previously used that old chestnut against that pitiful juvenile serial skunt pest Laffaminute who spent the majority of his time bashing the bishop ala Confucious style while mummy was calling him for tea.
So if you will assist to make up for your obvious contravening of Mush copywright:

When did Squeeze become UK Squeeze?
When did Bombay become Mumbai?
When did Poopey Scummers stop being thought of as Poopey Scummers in some quarters into Skates? Frankly unacceptable to me, my father, my granny and her granny and her grannys granny only know one thing.
POOPEY SCUMMERS!!!

Never ever lose sight of the "fact" that portsmuffs dislike of our city is in direct proportion to the sheer horribleness of their own, i believe it is called envy.

I’m well aware of those numpties take on it, but that wasn’t my question.
We all know there was no picketing of a naval dock in Pompey as the naval forces don’t strike.
The real story was actually that they brought scab labour from Poopey to to replace Mush Dockers in dispute like the rest of the dockers around the country. Ask Granny Mush or Auntie Elspeth or any of the proud old Southampton people who would laugh in the face of what the modern Poopey Scummers are trying to spin on it.

As I said POOPEY SCUMMERS are POOPEY SCUMMERS.
Don’t ever soften the tone and call them Skates, that’s letting them off far too lightly.

DELUDED SKUNTS is acceptable (Read above!!!!)

how long, how long before he tries to take over and ruin another club? he would have distroyed our club (again). he is a football dinosaur! we have a great team made up of quality players andsome really useful youngsters! he would have got rid of most of them and brought in over rated foreign players and journeyman prem players! rickie would have been replaced by peter crouch!
anyway eddie mitchell and harry redkrap deserve each other! but i cant see that relationship lasting. perhaps eddie had a few too many when they met?

This, they say, gives a historical legitimacy for calling us "scummers" and also justifies all their vitriol against us.

They don't seem to be deterred in the least by the fact that there is no historical evidence whatsoever that a Southampton Company of Union Men ever existed, nor the fact Southampton workers have not once scabbed on them. It's actually quite a shameful lie, but what else would you expect?

What in Portsmuff is remotely better than Southampton, the view, the housing, the violence, the attacks on students, the crime, the dirt, the 30 year out of date attitude, come on the big big problem is Southampton is a nice place surrounded by nice places, Portsea a'int and just like tatty council tenants do not like the posh B***rds over the road you do not like us....

AAARRRRHHHHH are you upset, do you want a cry? how about a hug from someone? poor little fishy.

we could go on about `loyalty` all night if you want. how about we start with how loyal our fans were when we were in div1, and yours were in the prem, our attendances still higher than yours! is that more loyal or not then? or when we were both in the champ no still higher than yours and now your fans are so loyal they cant be bothered to go to a local derby cup game, less than 6000! still its not as if you needed the money from the gate is it!
your pathetic `we are better than you` posts really are a bit stupid and schoolboyish arent they. your great city and its wonderful inhabitants are a breed apart from the rest of the country granted but its a lower form of life! people who dont know the difference between a peodaphile and a pediatrician!

Fantastic long term strategic planning.

As a fully committed Saint I have sent Nicola a tissue with a sample of my own for evaluation and have told him there will be no charge and no offence taken if it is deemed not quite up to scratch.
Thank god it is not a Lowe count.

Hmm, a business man who knows nothing about football and a football man who knows nothing about business with a Russian money man in the background. Sounds like a familiar recipe for disaster to me. Bet HMRC are keeping a close watch.

Good question that is what i asked myself.Talking of KEMP does any one rember a TED BATES signing back in the 60's FRED KEMP.A wing-half/inside forward who came to the DELL from Wolves.
You are right.
I remember Fred Kemp,he played as a half back.
(mid-fielder-to you youngsters)
He was a very good signing for Saints at the time.
Scorred a few good goals too.
The interesting thing I remember about him, is that he ran with an uneven gait.
It was suggested at the time that he had one leg a bit longer than the other.

Come on if someone started chasing you up the street would you think they wanted you to a) play for another football team or b) it was a potential mugging.
or c) you are a pratt

"Allegedly"...in the unlikely event it is wrong Mark was a great footballer centre half I believe, all the talent in the world, suffered a ligament injury back in the day when it meant career over, Harry had practically nothing to do with him from then on and only intersted in Jamie..

In fairness Jamie is a good guy so it is not his fault, but it must be a little disconcerting starring in a happy families ad with your wife, father, mother and extras but your brother with his nipper a'int allowed near it...

POOPEY SCUMMERS!!!

Never ever lose sight of the "fact" that portsmuffs dislike of our city is in direct proportion to the sheer horribleness of their own, i believe it is called envy.

It’s getting embarrassing and disrespectful to other members of the football league. How can you front up with a temporary team from week to week made up of charity cases from other teams that potentially are of a better standard than their opposition? These clubs have been trying to run their business model according to the rules and are being slapped in the face.

Enough is enough. I hope their fans buy them out, but they are given the same treatment as Rangers and have to start again at the bottom of the pile.

No Wobbly, warrens for my old pub, back in the day, 76 for the FA cup.

Osprey, you would not make that statement if you knew me the name is Nicholls and in the 70's and 80's I have toed to toe it with them.

However as an older fella we grow up...and I know and you know that their fans did not spend the money, anymore than we spent it under Lowe and co...

Remember we ended up with Marcus, could have been the muppets running Coventry into the ground, then were would we be...2nd admin, end of.

Who are we going to take the p!ss out of if the dirty stinking fish fiddlers do go? A Bummouth derby just won't have the same edge to it.
Spot on.
cannot possibly agree , let em die i say !
Yep
just how much do they owe the taxman (our money) now ?....... not to mention all the other creditors .......and they're allowed to continue for the umpteenth time , swallowing even more of our money that will never be repaid .......... can anyone name me another business that would get away with this ? ..........if i were a skate (shudder) i'd be ashamed ......... but they're not ! ....... says it all imo . ......... He's a skunt for sure.

Well in a week or so they will either be fan owned or BC owned or liquidising. Unless we get another deadline.

My monies is on another deadline!
I accept we were not and would not be given the same indulgence as portsmuff, but the fans are not responsible for the club, directors are and look at our sorry history before Marcus "god rest his soul" and NC.

They will get another deadline no question but do not wish on the other fella want you cannot take yourself..
You say that. Lowe may have been a total **** but he didn't have bloody on his hands. We haven't bought Ramirez with money made by selling guns to Angola to kill their own people. If our owners were of that kind I would have very serious misgivings and believe most Saints fans would. Why has Pompey has a succession of bent owners? Is it just co-incidence?

If someones a dodgy car dealer or owns **** shops I dont care, but I wouldn't support a club owned by someone dealing in mass murder.

What I'm trying to say is maybe due to the fact your skunt doesn't care is why certain types of owners gravitate towards owning clubs like them in the first place and other types towards clubs like us. Maybe the fan does have an influence in that sense.

Your thinking way to deep seedhouse, way to deep, maybe you have a moral authority completely lacking in most other supporters,,,but be careful you're not seeking a justification for your dislike of them ...it is not necessary you do not need a justification they exist ergo you must resist, you must resist..

Listen, I know they hate us, I get it, clearly there is a lot of bad feeling from our side towards them, I have been up close and personal with em so know one needs to tell me what a scummy place or nasty people they can be.....but their fans do not pick the directors anymore than any ofus on here wisely chose Marcus, did you choose him, did I, did Slugger, Osprey, anyone NO..we had no and have no say in the good or bad decisions made by the board..neither did they, I don't like em but be objective.
I am. I'm saying if we won the FA cup with money from someone like Gaydamak I'm not sure I'd be there. I loved being at the JPT won with the help of legit money made by an honest and decent man.
Seedhouse I liked it too...but think what you are saying, are you calling for an audit of the clubs account before supporting them, are you withdrawing your support of the club you love because of the bankruptcy forced on your club through a director...we support our club, our town, our community, not the b****y directors...

Fans start taking the moral responsibility of the directors as a basis of support...there would be no Brighton, Leeds, Chelsea, Mufc, actually half the bloody league would be gone, christ were would you draw the line taxes owed to the public? well that's us screwed, ..come on...your confusing apples with pears.

Nope just saying why they are very different to us.

To be fair I was only having a tease, as far as Pompey are concerned I wish they would get the mess sorted out, I am not bothered how they do it, it is not my concern, but it is taking far too long and is just a distraction. There are a few skate posters that come on here just to annoy and stir things up, they get as good as they give, the rest of the Pompey supporters are very little different to the rest of us, they are in a mess, mostly not of their own making. When they won that FA Cup how many skate fans cared or knew how it was achived at the time? Would we be any different?

Are you going to the Arsenal?

Ticket office has allegedly sold out, but they said that for City and there were loads of empty seats..
For anyone who cannot get a ticky we bought ours through an agent in London, cost us including booking fees about £20 more than SFC site..

I bloody would. If we got bought by an arms dealer I think I would probably think twice about going to games.

The only thing that makes stunts think twice about going to games is when their team becomes rubbish.

Therein lies the difference between us. It's a thing called 'class'.

Remember some quotes from Nicola Cortese = "Southampton is my baby; I'm not going to abandon it". In a statement on the club's website, Cortese claimed that he had been approached but that he remained totally committed to Southampton" and "Clubs spend money they do not have; they spend next year’s income. They spend money that will not arrive for two years and say, . It cannot be sustained. In good times you need to be saving money for the bad times. If we reach the Premier League, I would like to be in a position where we did not need parachute payments. In good years you should put money away for the bad years.

A somewhat different approach to that of our Blue rivals.

Well Guys, i know some people from skuntsville on a personal level as i suspect do most of us and away from the rivalry's i find them just another bunch of guys who dare i say it i like but Never suppose that as soon as it comes to my team i am RED and WHiTE to the core. and have in my earlier days had many a happy time sending them packing down the Fratton road.
But i want the rivalry with the blue few and dare i say it i enjoy the banter that the Mongs sometimes come out with (when they can construct a sentence together.)
i dont want rivalry with the mummys boys of bore mouth or lifting the skirts of the Brighton crossdressers
i want what we have always had, good old fashion hatred of something blue and smelling of dead fish in the midday sun.

I, like you have said, have some good friends who are of the blue persuasion, and i have some good banter with them, and i feel for them.
I never have and never will understand the need for the rivalry to turn into violence.
I am undecided wether the club should be liquidated or not,
i feel for the local businesses, taxman (us) and charities who have been robbed by the club i wish that the club should be made to pay these back in full over a (blue) few years even if that means having less players or staff, or even playing the youth and them being down the bottom of the leagues.

then i read comments on the fews website from fans saying how they would be ok just get a new CVA and things will be good! no compassion for anybody who has and are suffering because of the clubs actions. they think its great that they now only have to pay less than 1p in the £ from the first CVA. the tax bills dropped to less than £1/2 mill from over £25mill from that CVA! £24+mill from public funds which could have paid for so much particularly these days. when they are reminded of this they just say "we know about that but want our club to survive". they have no shame and are not embarrassed! blaming everyone and anyone else and not taking any responsibility themselves!
clubs should only be allowed to survive if they are viable and over the last few years poopey hasnt been! it comes to something when a club deliberately avoids paying tax to pay its players because it knows they will be punished more for not paying the players.
if it was liquidated at the end of last season, as it should have been, the fans would of had time to start `afc poopey` and entered a low low league. they would then have lost the `history` they so love
as i said i am torn between wanting them to survive and pay back their debts and just wanting rid of the lot of them. i think though robbing them of their much mentioned `history` swings it for me as there will be a pheonix club and we can `hate` that just as much.

I think the fact that the skunt supporters still allude to that cup win so affectionately and try to make it a point to prove of their proud history says it all. After all the mess that "buying" the fa cup has caused not only to their own club but the fact it was money stollen from tax payers, charities and local businesses. Yet many Pompey supporters are still so proud of it. Sums them up to me.

Your thinking way to deep seedhouse, way to deep, maybe you have a moral authority completely lacking in most other supporters,,,but be careful you're not seeking a justification for your dislike of them ...it is not necessary you do not need a justification they exist ergo you must resist, you must resist..
Nope just saying why they are very different to us.

I don't care whether its BC, PST or liquidised. All options will be fun in their own way!

But i want the rivalry with the blue few and dare i say it i enjoy the banter that the Mongs sometimes come out with (when they can construct a sentence together.) i dont want rivalry with the mummys boys of bore mouth or lifting the skirts of the Brighton crossdressers i want what we have always had, good old fashion hatred of something blue and smelling of dead fish in the midday sun.

They should of been put down years ago.
No sympathy at all.
Come on Crawley
Looks like the Blue Phew have bought out the Officials today Crawley down to nine players and 3 0 to the Skates!

looks like the fish have signed the ref on a 1 month contract!
worst refereeing display i have seen in many many years! sent 2 crawley players off for nothing decisions and fails to do the same for poopeys players, then send off the crawley manager!
looks like he sent the crawley player off to help poopey, but even with 10 men crawley looked as good if not better than the fish so he sent another player off!
action needs to be taken when refs are as bad as this! poopey would probably only drawn todays game but for the ref.
i am so glad we are out of the football league and away from refs as bad as that today. i know refs make mistakes and thats ok we all do, but to make as many as he has done today?

cue the pain in spain, fishin the hand, blueredndead! hello girls we havent missed you! and we know the ref won today!

I am still amazed by the refereeing today. There seems no end to the life lines Pompey are given. Still no shame. But they will soon be on here saying "we've got out first win, you haven't"! Regardless of the fact they have played five, we have played 3, they are in league 1 with a borrowed side and a borrowed ref, we are in the best league in the world with all our own team and own ground!

I thought at the start of the season when the fixtures came our that our first points will come at home to villa, for some reason I was a little concerned about Wigan, after all they were one of the firm teams after Christmas, it was never going to be as easy as some made out.

Whatever happens this year I am so proud of our team and the way it is run. I am proud of the way we play football and it is early days. I think we will stay up, but if we don't I'm still going to be really proud of our team.

But I believe we are good enough, we are Southampton, we are proud and we stand tall on the South Coast. We will stay up, that I'm sure... Coys

A million years ago, on Friday, this thread was about a young lad called Harry Cornick.

Sooner or later it all seems to revert to some supporter from a much much lower league club rambling on about their dreams of doing as well as The Saints. Rebuilding like the Saints, getting back to the Premiership like the Saints, having a brilliant squad like the Saints, buying players like the Saints. The whiff of envy in every post they make is pure perfume to the cultured Saints fan nose.

Or to put it simply for the hard of thinking, living up to the sheer dream of being The Saints.

Maybe you'll be lucky and somebody with shedloads of cash will buy them. In the meantimne they must feel free to bask in our glory, and warm themselves in the bright sunny rays of our brilliance.

though calling it a supporter of the poor team down the road is a bit over the top, it spends all its time dreaming of being a saint and spends all its time comparing the fish to us! therefore setting the saints as a benchmark that the fish are trying to aspire to!

did you not watch the saints play manure then? you said you did!
so are we not allowed to watch crawley? you see when there is an international break the big teams dont play so sky are forced to put truly awful games on, i think they call it comedy day! i did watch yes and what i saw was 10 men of crawley being as good if not better than 12 men of poopey. only when your 12th man sent off the second crawley player did you manage to get some goals! even with 9 men crawley still should have scored.

Fcuk em! There's a bit of a difference between the position we were in and the position they're in, again! Are you related to the Mansbridge Warrens?
More Shirley Warren if taking pity on the blue phew!

I bloody would. If we got bought by an arms dealer I think I would probably think twice about going to games.

The only thing that makes stunts think twice about going to games is when their team becomes rubbish.

Therein lies the difference between us. It's a thing called 'class'.
Realise this as an old thread now but have to say my piece.
I agree with Warrens... Football was invented in this great country and born out of rivalry between towns. I hate PFC but without them we would have no one to hate.No real rivals. The others just arent the same!!
As we all know too well, your club dying is the worst nightmare come true and I feel sorry for genuine supporters. However, sometimes you have to make a moral choice... I did... I realised in the close season following the Cup Final v Arsenal that things were not right at our club.. I had the money for renewing 3 season tickets and decided not to..As Im involved in credit and finance it was apparent to me long before most Saints fans. I decided that while Lowe was there he would not get one more penny of my money. As much as it hurt I stayed away til he was gone. Sme of my friends and fellow fans chastised me, and at work one day we had arguments about it. I was reminded about the stadium etc etc to which my reply was... Trust me, while that man is in charge, one day soon we will have one of the finest stadiums in the lower leagues!!! This was met with laughter. It gives me no satisfaction to say I was right but I still feel I made the right choice. I was born and bred of Southampton pedigree and no matter what club had risen from the ashes of SFC in this city, I would have supported it (Thank God For Markus though!)

Time for the Skates to do the same and make a choice!

The important thing is, are you back in the fold? Have you got on the bus as we ride to an uncertain future? Nothing is guaranteed in this life. Not everyone posting on here is convinced that we have done enough yet as a Club, to secure our position in the Premier. What do you think? Profit, Status Quo or financial disaster yet again.

Been back in the fold since the day Lowe left. I think Cortese is a shrewd man and will guide us to success to a point we never imagined, such is his ambition. And I think he will do it by balancing the books. Everyone is in a state of panic at the moment it seems, I think it will be a hard season and a period of consolidation. I dont go along with the thought that its fine to be a yoyo club... Finances would be ok but players would come and go and that causes problems in itself. Staying up is all we need to do at the moment and that will be fine. Wont be easy but we're definitely good enough. lets hope we get some luck too
Fans seem to make much of the wage structure but, if we are to get to where we want to go, it will have to be broken so makes sense to do it slowly, one star at a time!! until you have a team of stars!! but we wont get there on the cheap.
Im optomistic of the future and I think with NC in charge of the financial reins, things will be ok.. I know I'm happy now spending my money in the shop, on the terraces or wherever related to Saints.
I have never felt so confident in the club
