Good point. The headline is misleading. The item concentrates on building team spirit with a passing mention of free agents.

I don't think there will be panic buying though. Remember, anyone who is free now must be in that position for a reason.

If only we could find a seasoned pro looking to do a good job in his final couple of seasons. .. Yes I know .. dream on.

What I would like to see is Fonte being mentored by someone who can bring him up a level. I think he has it in him. Apart from the occasional error I thought he was pretty solid over the last two years, he is now up agaisnt the worlds best and it takes time to adapt.

Fox is different, I am not sure if he is just finding his feet at a higher level or whether he will learn from experience. We don't have a lot of time to find out but he must not become a whipping boy as he has done us proud. His service to Lambert has been first rate in the not too distant past.

This article does not have much substance other than to say that Adkins phone is till working and that team spirit is important. Whooa stop the front page!

Didier Drogba is already fed up with China.He could teach Jay Rodriguez a thing or three.Afte rall Nigel does like to buy a striker.maybe he thinks they are cheaper by the dozen.
If Mr Adkins doesn't start picking the right team to start picking up the points there will probably be a new face sat behind the managers desk.

I haven't misplaced him. He will improve the defence. But not enough in my opinion. I think we need to replace both CB's and the LB if we are to achieve say 12th place. And what happens if So Yoshida gets injured. Then we are back to J and J.

The week after we gained promotion I went through the squad and thought we needed 9 new players to stay away from the relegation zone. That was to include a back 4 and cover for Kelvin Davies. I think we are still 3 short. I have watched at least 2 PL matches on TV for the past 7 years, that's what I based my 9 players on.

i think that nigel A has a hell of a lot of good qualities.However at the moment no points out of 9 is not a great return.the team he picked for the wigan match let him down badly.Against the 2 manchester teams the teams he picked squandered the lead in each match.his poor substitutions definitely lost us the match against DISUNITED.
I think his back room staff are a bit naive at premiership level too. Now maybe if dean wilkins metamorphosised into RAY WILKINS Saints might get a bit of premiership savy in the coaching ranks.
What Southampton team would i pick against Arsenal well i've won a few quid over the years at fantasy football from both national and local newspapers so here goes with my fantasy team to beat the gunners.

Getting back to reality and Nigel's quest for new faces how about HARRY KEWELL the aussie who is out of contract.OK his best days are behind him but he would help the shirt sales down under and that seems to be an important strategy in NC'S masterplan to rule the soccer universe.
One last point about the problematic left back berth.why wasn't Wayne Bridge lured back to ST MARYS in pre-season.he has the neccessary top flight experience which our back 4 seem to lack and he can bang in the odd goal.he has already scored a couple for the seagulls who are sitting pretty at the top of the championship as i type this dismal dirge.
