Southampton's Jack Cork out injured for up to six weeks

Jack Cork has confirmed he will be sidelined for up to six weeks with a knee injury.

The midfielder limped off in the dying stages of Tuesday's 2-0 Capital One Cup third-round victory over Sheffield Wednesday - his first match back from an ankle problem suffered in pre-season.

Cork was today seen at St Mary's in a leg brace and has confirmed via his Twitter account that he faces another stretch on the sidelines.

''Another 4-6 weeks, with my left knee,'' he said on the social media site.

''Lucks just not going my way this season. Could be worse, but was so close to getting back from the ankle.''

Saints manager Nigel Adkins confirmed the injury today.

''Jack Cork is not going to be available for the weekend or the next couple of weeks,'' he said.

''He picked up a knee injury the other night in the victory against Sheffield Wednesday so he is going to be in a brace for a couple of weeks.

''Who knows if four to six weeks is realistic? Listen, I know the diagnosis of it with the history I've got and the experience I've got of these injuries as well. We have got a good idea of what it is going to be.

''We have a great medical team here and they will work through the rehabilitation process in the diligent order.''

Gonna be one of those seasons for him, shame quality player, still be like a new signing when he comes back.

Shouldn't have been played in the game in the first place. Too early for a mid week cup game in my opinion. He should have been nurtured back as he's one of our best and we'll rely on him throughout the season. However, on a brighter note maybe he'll come available at a time when someone is serving a suspension or injury so not always negative!!!

So 4-6 weeks with the injury and then time to get match fit - might see him around the Christmas period then!
Unlucky - I bet the Management team is kicking itself for not getting him off earlier!

Fate - or as Nelson said to Hardy "Kiss me mate" or was it "Kismet"?

One for our fishy friends there!

As the two injuries were totally different I cannot see why he shouldn't have been playing, it was intended to get him match fit, no one could have imagined that he would gets his studs caught as they did it was pure bad luck not bad selection.

It's bad news but, providing nothing happens to Morgan, I'm not sure he'd be in our starting eleven anyway. I wish him a speedy recovery though as he'll have a crucial role to play sooner or later, as will a lot of the players currently on the fringe.

Cracking player but we have cover at the moment. Hope he fully recovers in time for injuries to other players and suspensions.
Hats off to jwp who has stepped up excellently. I rate them both and can see them together in England shirts!

Still ot 3 Everton tickets for sale if anyones interested.
We are prepared to let them go cheap.
So if any Saints fans out their want to make me an offer then please do.
I'd rather they got used and saved someone else a bit of cash than bin them.
I am prepared to drop them off or meet someone within a 5 mile radius of Woolston if it helps.
