Roy Hodgson will name his squad for England’s next two World Cup qualifiers tomorrow.
The question on Saints fans’ lips will be ‘is there a place for either Adam Lallana or Rickie Lambert?’ Lallana was a late addition to the last senior squad, earning a place on the bench for the 1-1 draw against Ukraine at Wembley.
Although it took a handful of withdrawals from the original group to prompt the inclusion of the midfielder, it proved that he is certainly in the thoughts of Hodgson.
Whether there is space for the 24-year-old in the squad for the fixtures against San Marino and Poland remains to be seen.
Lambert has also been making a case for a place in the England set-up.
With four goals so far this season, he is the joint top English scorer in the division.
