Thanks for joining us today. Saints failed to get the win they wanted, but the good news is they are up a place in the table and out of the relegation zone heading into the international break.
3:26pm
FULL-TIME: Saints 2 Fulham 2
3:23pm
GOAL: Saints 2 Fulham 2 (Fonte 90): Saints reply almost immediately. Danny Fox's in-swinging free-kick from deep is headed home by Fonte, who celebrates his second of the match.
3:21pm
GOAL: Saints 1 Fulham 2 (Richardson 88): A long ball from defence finds Riether all alone down the right-hand side. His cut back picks out Kieran Richardson, who fires in a deflected shot.
3:18pm
CHANCE: Adam Lallana twists and turns on the left and delivers an in-swinging cross. Jay Rodriguez gets onto it at the back post, but bounces a header into the ground and over the bar in the 86th minute.
3:12pm
CHANCE: Fulham attack Saints down the right in the 80th minute. Damien Duff plays in Sascha Riether on the overlap. His cutback finds Kieran Richardson, but he fires well over under pressure from Steven Davis.
3:01pm
GOAL: Saints 1 Fulham 1 (Hooiveld og 69): Sascha Riether's low ball from the right finds its way to John Arne Riise just outside the area. His powerful drive is heading wide, but is accidentally turned in by the outstretched leg of Jos Hooiveld.
3:00pm
A couple of changes have been made. Jason Puncheon and Rickie Lambert are off for Saints, with Richard Chaplow and Guly do Prado on in their places. For Fulham, Alex Kacaniklic is off and Kieran Richardson is on.
2:53pm
CHANCE: Fulham very nearly level on the hour mark. Bryan Ruiz's in-swinging free-kick hits Steve Sidwell and comes back off the post. Saints escape again moments later, as Paulo Gazzaniga makes a good close range save from Hugo Rodallega's header.
2:50pm
CHANCE: Jay Rodriguez breaks forward from deep and fires in a low shot from just outside the area in the 57th minute which Mark Schwarzer gets behind to save.
2:43pm
CHANCE: Saints break well in the 51st minute after Morgan Schneiderlin intercepts Brede Hangeland's pass. The move ends with the Frenchman's ball from the right being fired over by Rickie Lambert from 16 yards. Schneiderlin earlier joined Jos Hooiveld in Mark Clattenburg's book for a foul on John Arne Riise.
2:33pm
The teams are back out for the second half...
2:22pm
HALF-TIME: Saints 1 Fulham 0
2:21pm
CHANCE: Jos Hooiveld completely misjudges a long ball out of defence deep into added time, allowing Hugo Rodallega in, but he pokes the ball wide of the goal with just Paulo Gazzaniga to beat.
2:19pm
CHANCE: Aaron Hughes gets on the end of Bryan Ruiz's corner in the first minute of added time, but powers his header straight at Paulo Gazzaniga.
2:13pm
CHANCE: Jason Puncheon works the ball to Rickie Lambert in space on the left side of the penalty area, but the striker's powerful low shot is kept out by Mark Schwarzer at the near post in the 40th minute.
1:55pm
CHANCE: Mark Schwarzer flaps at Adam Lallana's 22nd minute corner, with the ball subsequently hitting Jason Puncheon at the back post. Sascha Riether is there to clear it off the line, though. From the resulting corner, Puncheon fires home from Rickie Lambert's knockdown, but is penalised for a trip on Schwarzer.
1:50pm
CHANCE: Saints go close to a second, as a nice move involving Danny Fox, Adam Lallana and Jay Rodiguez results in Rodriguez squaring to Rickie Lambert, who slides a right-foot shot just wide in the 18th minute.
1:41pm
Saints forced into a defensive reshuffle in the eighth minute. Frazer Richardson picks up an injury and has to be stretchered off. Jos Hooiveld replaces him. Hooiveld goes to centre back, with Maya Yoshida moving to right back.
1:38pm
GOAL: Saints 1 Fulham 0 (Fonte 4): A great start for Saints. Adam Lallana's corner is met by Jose Fonte, who showed some nice movement to find space at the near post. His header loops across goal and lands just inside the far post.
1:27pm
The teams have emerged from the tunnel ahead of the match. Kick-off now just a few minutes away. We will have updates here for you throughout the game...
1:09pm
You need to fight to get results in each and every game, but I think for large periods in each and every game we’ve showed we’re capable of playing at this level. It is just about ironing out the little mistakes that have cost us. We've looked at it and we’ve had a tough start to the season in terms of the fixtures. We played against some of the top teams but we’re now going into a run now where hopefully we can start picking up some points. If you're going to achieve anything in any season your home form needs to be good and hopefully on Sunday we can go and get a positive result for the fans.

The headline news for Saints is that club record signing Gaston Ramirez misses out with a thigh injury that he sustained in training. Nathaniel Clyne is also absent with a dead leg, meaning Danny Fox returns at left-back, while Frazer Richardson continues on the opposite side of defence. Morgan Schneiderlin returns from the knee injury that kept him out against Everton. It’s three changes in total for Saints, as Jason Puncheon is also restored to the starting line-up, while James Ward-Prowse drops to the bench.
Just the one change for Fulham, as Alex Kačaniklic replaces the injured Mladen Petric. Dimitar Berbatov is again sidelined with a hip problem.
12:46pm
THE LINE-UPS
SAINTS: Gazzaniga, Richardson, Fonte, Yoshida, Fox, Puncheon, S Davis, Schneiderlin, Lallana, Lambert, Rodriguez.
Subs: K Davis, Hooiveld, Ward-Prowse, Guly, Mayuka, Chaplow, Reeves.
FULHAM: Schwarzer, Riise, Hangeland, Baird, Sidwell, Ruiz, Duff, Hughes, Rodallega, Riether, Kačaniklic.
Subs: Stockdale, Kelly, Senderos, Kasami, Karagounis, Richardson, Briggs.
Referee: Mark Clattenburg (Tyne & Wear)
12:19pm
Rickie Lambert is probably one of the best target men we’ve got in England. He is very dangerous with crosses, especially at the far post. If you see their line-up and if you are capable as a club of getting the likes of Gaston Ramirez then you’re heading in the right direction. I thought they were very unfortunate in two or three matches, even against Manchester City away from home. They should have quite a few more points. They play with four players up front and if you talk about Ramirez, Adam Lallana and the like, they are all good players. You saw that in the first 30 minutes against Everton and against Man City, for example. I think they’ve got the quality to survive in the league and to hurt you.
Fulham manager Martin Jol
12:18pm
It is a match we can lose, but it is a game we’re going to look to go and win. You have to be positive at home. We have been very good at St Mary’s over the last few years and again starting this season. The atmosphere in the last home game when we beat Aston Villa 4-1 was electrifying. It was fantastic. The supporters lifted the players, the players lifted the supporters so everyone was together as one. We produced an excellent performance and got an excellent win. We’re under no illusions, though, as Fulham are going to be a tough team to beat. We don’t think we’re just going to turn up and going to win. Fulham have had a very promising start. They’re very organised, have good players and have won games this season. We know we’ve got to be at the top of our game, like every game in the Premier League, but we’ve got to go and look to win our games at home.
Saints manager Nigel Adkins
11:56am
FULHAM TEAM NEWS: The Cottagers have serious concerns in attack heading into this game. Dimitar Berbatov is likely to be sidelined with a hip injury, while fellow striker Mladen Petric is a doubt after sustaining a calf problem this week. Kieran Richardson is back in contention after recovering from an issue with his hip, while free agent signing Mickael Tavares could be involved. Philippe Senderos, Pajtim Kasami, Kerim Frei and Ashkan Dejagah have all stepped up their returns to fitness this week.
11:56am
SAINTS TEAM NEWS: Midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin returned to training this week, after suffering a knee injury that kept him out of last week’s visit to Everton. This game may come too soon for him, though. Jack Cork (knee) remains sidelined, while Tadanari Lee (elbow) is a doubt once again. Dan Seaborne (ankle) is hoping to be fit. Keeper Artur Boruc is competing for a place in the squad, after coming through an under-21 fixture in the week.
11:30am
Good morning and welcome to the Daily Echo’s blog covering today’s Premier League contest between Saints and Fulham, at St Mary’s (kick-off 1.30pm). Nigel Adkins’ side slipped back into the relegation zone yesterday, but will move out of the bottom three with a point or better today. Saints won their last league match at home, thumping Aston Villa 4-1, but suffered defeat in their most recent outing, a 3-1 loss at Everton. Fulham start the match in ninth place in the table and are in search of their second away win of the season. We will have the teams when they become available and updates for you throughout the game.

Too many stray passes and poor first touches but we are the only team who look like scoring. Fulham are neat and tidy but toothless up top without Berbatov and we really should win this game. Maya looks a bit like a fish out of water at RB, I'm surprised Chaplow didn't get the nod.

Lambert and Punchy scared them, once they went off we were on the back foot.
Yoshida, although playing out of position was very poor.
J-Rod is only good enough for cup games.
If I was NA I would be worried, poor decisions against Man U and now Fulham.
I know for a fact that NC is a tough chairman, he won't stand much more.

Jos looks completely shot to bits confidence wise as is starting to look the weak link of the 3 CB's. We need Gaston and Clyne back quickly because that was very poor today.
On the plus side I thought Fox looked solid, Guly looked lively when he came on and Morgan doesn't look out of place at this level.

What's the point having a bench if your too scared to bring people on?
Again I would suggest its more the fault of the sub if they don't make an impact than of Nige. In this day and age with the use of pro zone and other gps equipment the coaching build up a profile of different players and when they are most effective according to the stats. It's not just a 'I think I'll take off Punch' situation it's far more complex than that.
Let's also not forget we played mostly 4-4-2 today and were asking Ricky to drop deep and make up the numbers in midfield when we lost possession. That was bound to make him tire a lot earlier today.
But hey cheer up we could be Poopey fans! Now that would be bad!!

some of the posters on here need to get a life, stop pretending to be saints fans and worry about their club and if it will survive or not!
so NA is never ever allowed to sub RL, guly is never allowed to play again (even after doing well today), punch is also not to be subbed ever! even if NA wants to close up shop a bit and change an attacking player for a more defensive minded one, fox can be blamed for everthing even if not played or after having a good game today whilst no one can say JH has had a bad game (or2), 2 own goals and 2 pens given away already this season, yet fonte is rubbish and should be shipped out (2 goals today and a good defensive display).
i have said before that all players go through bad spells and all go through good spells, so picking on individual players after some poor games helps no one! fox fonte and guly(when he came on) played well today and fonte was MOM!
why is it that some see fox fonte guly and kelv are all the worst players ever and should all be sold NOW whilst JH can do no wrong nor can AL!
NA should resign immediately because guiding a team from the bottom of L1 to the prem in 2 years is `lucky` and he nearly fu(+ed that up.
yes todays game was dissapointing, but we got another point to add to the total. we cant play silky football every game! why is it that some are having a right go at j-rod when RL missed some really good chances as well?

Let's be honest Jos has given away 2 pens and a couple of own goals yet nobody says a word. Let's get behind all the players that's our job!
Unfortunately today our team looked like they've been drilled all week to 'not concede' and I think that effected a lot the players. Too many looked scared to make a mistake and didnt want to take responsibility for the ball.
I say go for it, attack teams and see where it gets us because being defensive a) doesn't suit us and b) we are no bloody good at it!

I'm not sure that the substitutions were that bad. Our best period of play in the second half came at the very end after we had made the substitutions.

JP was the ONLY reason Yoshida was not mashed to bits at right back and as soon as he came off we collapsed. Footballers are capable of playing 90 minutes and can pace themselves accordingly... NA was naive today, at 1-0 instead of making substitutions, we should have been killing the game and looking to hit them on the break. Also in the first half we chased far too much down in their 3rd. This is not the championship anymore, that is wasted energy. We have to let teams have the ball in their 3rd and be confident enough to win the first and second ball in the middle 1/3. If you look at the stats for winning the 2nd ball in the middle 3rd we were second best today. Granted this was not helped due to Gaston's absence but this does needs fixing fast.

Otherwise, for example, Puncheon decides in the 55th minute he's not gonna track back, coz he's a bit tired and wants to make it to 90 mins, and the other team scores?! You can't have it both ways unfortunately.

So, anyone who was in seats 1040 - 1090 (approximately) in rows higher than FF: If you saw someone throw something a minute or two after half time, please do let me know. You can get hold of me at v47259@yahoo.co.uk. The security team are looking at CCTV footage but any help locating the individual would be greatly appreciated.

I am not a NA basher, far from it , but taking him off was ridiculous, all he had to do was get the message to him to stay deeper and we could adjust accordingly..... I thought the ManU subs were daft but put that down to experience, but today showed me that NA may have poor understanding of the defensive part of the tactics required. There is not enough verbak in his ear during the game, his decisions seem lonely..... he needs a better tactical team around him imo.... People calling for his exit are idiots but he does need support.... again, in my humble opinion
