African Cup may cost Saints their striker

Daily Echo: Mayuka Mayuka

SAINTS are likely to be without striker Emmanuel Mayuka for up to a month later this season, after he helped Zambia qualify for the African Cup of Nations.

The 21-year-old, below, was part of the side that won a dramatic play-off with Uganda at the weekend to book a place in the finals.

The tournament is scheduled to run from January 19 to February 10, in South Africa, meaning Saints could be without Mayuka’s services for an extended period of time in the new year.

I understand that the whole team plus the manager are on a learning stage but how much longer will it take them by the end on this month we will be around 1/4 through the Prem program and we will need as some have said around 50 points to stay up would hate to see us take a drop back now but any way good luck Mayuka hope he and his team wins good luck COYR's

Don't forget Guly is a hot favourite to be called up to the Brazilian squad so we could be without him for a while as well. Once that happens, I think my Guly shirt will be getting even more outings to St Marys than my Fox one.

I haven't got a Mayuka shirt yet as I know very little about Africa and frankly what I have heard isn't great. For a start I certainly wouldn't put a bet on an African match because I heard on Radio 4 the place is full of cheetahs.

Just spoke to my Auntie Elspeth who told me my second cousin Guan died in Zambia.

He was an acrobat on tour with the Chinese National Circus. Anyhow, one of the circus lions, Haitai, escaped and they chased after it only to find it was on a huge plain with about 300 other lions - and they couldn't tell which one was Haitai. Anyhow, cut a long story short, they picked the wrong one and two days later it ate Guan.

I did say to Auntie Elspeth, jokingly, that I bet a few days earlier Guan had called a witch doctor a w@nker.

No laugh - I was just told off for being dismissive and condescending about Africa.

Huh - that's aunties for you.

It's my little one's first birthday on 19th Jan and we have Everton at home. Me and my partner are talking about possibly taking him to his first game and sitting in the family section for this one. Don't think it would go down to well if I took him to my normal position in the Northam. Still not sure if we will go through with it though as I think he might be too young

Confucious, did any of your Chinese relatives help to build the Tazara railway linking the port of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania with the copper mines of Zambia?

It was a wonderful piece of engineering and would have been a great success if the price of copper hadn't collapsed.

Pity the Chinese didn't build Dar's new airport back in the '80s. The Tanzanian's gave that job to the French and, within minutes of its opening, it managed to blow Dar's entire electrical supply.

This is why we brought in lots of attacking options. the bus may have had problems starting this year, but if we the fans help out and give it a push, instead of moaning about the driver, then our journey up the league will be back on track.

Deepest condolences?

The Chinese State Circus visiting Zambia must be like a takeaway snack fest for a plain full of lions. I'm touched that you can bring yoursef to recount such tales. I've said before, these threads run deep.

On the issue of airports,
Tenerife's northern airport was built by German engineer's following Spanish order's..back to front I know...

Unfortunately to say the least, It was in effect after much studying, contemplation, weather recording and so forth inadvertantly built almost a kilometer from it's designated position as arrived at by our teutonic cousins...

..resulting in the largest air passenger disaster in european history following fog .....fog that our Germanic bretheren took great pains to avoid indeed fog that would not have been were the airport was intended..

This is why the majority of touristico's arrive now in the south airport...still the electricity was on...

I don't know of any who worked on the railways, but my Uncle Shi used to race trains to level crossings on his motorbike. The last race he made was a tie so that was that.

I remember Auntie Elspeth telling me "Just as well my boy. I'm afraid he not only had a very irritating twitch, but he also thought lots of tiny people live in radio sets."

I think Cameron will have to think long and hard about who gets the contract if he ever does go ahead with the extra London runway.

We have so many young players who are coming on really well.
21 year old Manu playing international football and can't get a run in the first team.
Keeping an eye on our U18,U21 and you will see some real good footballers , just ask Arsenal about them, they are at most of our youth games!
JWP has impressed every one with his mature play and everyone is asking when Luke Shaw is going to get in the team.
Cup game last month was a good showcase for the talent we have sitting and waiting.
Males me wonder why everyone keeps asking why we haven't spent money for some of the dross with"PL experience", not all experience is good.

Not entirely sure how much better it can get to be honest with you.
Not a lot wrong.
I would like to have won more games, but everyone said it would be an extremely difficult start and it was.
It is only the doomngloom that were always gonna be a problem who are grizzling.
No big surprise there.
I suggest you back this up with a few facts, you know, like who told you and when and why.
No pressure
Just with the next ten minutes.
Without facts it is just you stirring sh!t as usual.

well cortese knows whats going on, and it was cortese and adkins that "got us here" and it's markus not marcus that funded it.as for a money man, well thats a new one on me.
If we are "nit picking" its Markus not markus!
Was just stating that even Fergie would struggle if he did not have financial backing.
In our case it was ML cash not NC money.
NC has got greedy, look at the prices being charged for hospitality, crazy money and half empty.
What about all the loyal workers at St Marys who have lost their jobs? Paid a pittance but just discarded.
We are in danger of losing that "special " arrangement unique to Saints FC.
The people looking at the club are north American, maybe even Canadian, so I am informed.

So no facts then?
As I said, just sh!t stirring.
No loyal workers have been sacked at SMS.
Same prices in hospitality that all other clubs charge, sometimes lower.
There is a shortage of money everywhere, unless you have a money tree in your back garden?
Please just shut up !
Getting very fed up with no neck losers like you sticking daggers into MY football club.
Support the Saints, do you know how to do that?
Do not try the usual tactic of accusing me of blind faith either, just produce some real facts and then I will listen.

Till then take a hike.

Many years ago Saints played Friday night at Fulham and I stayed over and went WHU v Man City.
I was amazed at the animals that were caged there.
This was at the height of footie violence but I was astounded that creatures like that existed.
I also worked at Canal Wharf when it was being built and saw a discussion between WHU + Millwall, unbelievable!
And yet when I went to a game there about 3 years ago, I was made welcome and had quite a good chat in a pub with several fans. Might be different if we had been playing them though!
Have a nice day and come back with all the points.

One of my favourite phrases "the internet has a memory". These numpties think that the tripe they post lives in a vacuum.

And, yes, I do know the sort - there are a lot of them about.

Easy this making up rumours lark, isn't it?

well cortese knows whats going on, and it was cortese and adkins that "got us here" and it's markus not marcus that funded it.as for a money man, well thats a new one on me.
Watch this space.
How long do I have to keep watching for? I have been sitting here for hours and nothing is happening!

Is this one of those fake things like you get on Facebook, you know the ones... Where it says "press like then stare at this picture for 10 minutes and see what happens"....... Nothing.

Well, I'll give this another hour then I'm off!

You haven't got 30,000 fans to fill the ground you got so what makes you think you will ever get anywhere near the 60,000 mark like liverpool and Arsenal, there is a 7 year waiting list for a season ticket at Anfield, I hear that no one wants to wait 7 seconds to get a season ticket at st fairy's because the atmosphere is so sh**t and the ground empties at the 65min mark,PUP

For what it's worth...
Five of us walking from Pub to St Mary's on Sunday straw-polled the 2-2 result-but maybe not the manner of it.
Also two of us mouthed the words 'here we go' before the crossfield balls that led to Fulham's two goals, and we're only humble fans, so I'm sure Nigel saw it.
Also, for what it's worth...we all think we'll be allright this season, and that without the aforesaid hindsight, we'd have taken that before the season started. Europe and proper Saints Stripes will have to wait a bit longer, that's all.
