Claus Lundekvam believes Saints have a better final day chance of survival now than they did when they were relegated from the Premiership.
That is despite their fate ending up being in their own hands when they hosted Manchester United three years ago with Norwich suffering a heavy final day defeat.
On that fateful day in 2005, Lundekvam, pictured, was at the heart of the Saints defence - as he had been at so many successful relegation battles over the years.
It went against Saints that day but Lundekvam believes it is there for the taking for the current crop of Saints players if they beat United - even though this is the first time the club's final day fate has been out of their own hands.
He said: "I really think against Man United that day there was tension but we lowered our shoulders a bit on the day because we were playing Man United.
"They're such a good team and no one expected us to do anything.

"Circumstances were different and we were more or less hoping to produce something extraordinary on the day, so it was a little bit of a different approach to the game.
"Everyone involved now believes and thinks that if we can perform well on Sunday we will beat Sheffield United, even though they're a good side and have something to play for."

I agree with some of the comments above about quality, but i think we felt at the time there was slim chance and realistically we felt we were going down. The main players didn't care cos they knew they were either gonna stay with Saints on a decent contract or they had teams already lined up.
This week there is a much more positive feeling, we have had some dodgy results with Pearson and Burnley i thought was a terrible result however he has seemed to be able to get the players wanting us to stay up and the likelyhood of some of our players moving is limited as there performances have been below par this year. Either way Sunday will be memorable. Come on Saints

Because Sharon babe I have all the gadgets that I carry with me i.e. ultra light laptop with wireless and 3g connection, also a Fusion handset which is windows mobile 6 so i can go on internet, do emails and make calls at any time, even in meetings, lucnh or whenever.
Luckiliy being a project exec I dictate to some extent my diary.
