Adam Lallana admits his world has completely changed after the final two games of the season.
The youngster, who celebrates his 20th birthday today, played a key role in Saints' dramatic survival.
His 77th minute strike against West Brom helped the team to a valuable, confidence-boosting draw at the Hawthorns in their penultimate game.
Saints manager Nigel Pearson then threw him into one of the most pressurised matches in the club's history, as a 73rd minute substitute against Sheffield United on Sunday.
Although Lallana took it all in his stride, he said things were now very different for him, having been thrust well and truly into the spotlight.
"My whole life has changed in those last two games and I am so grateful for the opportunity," he said.

"For me, it's a bit of a shame the season has finished. It's stopped a bit early for me."
Lallana, who has blossomed into a potential first team star under Nigel Pearson, gives the Saints boss a lot of credit for believing in him ahead of the last two games.
"I had a couple of good reserve games and I was training with the first team," he said.
"He asked if I would be ready if he put me in and I said I would. He showed a lot of faith in me."
Lallana said he also had no hesitation about being involved on the final day when asked by Pearson.
He said: "He just asked me if I was ready and I said of course I am.'
"He is quite calm and relaxed and he is confident in me.
"I was confident in my abilities and it was brilliant to come on and contribute to the win."
With Pearson's future as manager uncertain, Lallana threw his backing behind the Saints boss.
"I definitely want to see him back here," he said.
"He believes in me and I definitely want him to be here.
"He's brought a lot more passion and a better shape to the team."
Lallana now has his sights set on making an impact on the Championship next season.
"I have got my foot in the door now, I have proven I can do it, so hopefully I will play a big part next season," he said.
"The manager just said to keep myself in good shape over the summer and I have got a big season ahead of me, so be ready to kick on."
For Lawrie McMenemy's take on Saints' great escape, don't miss today's Daily Echo.

After the dreadful season we have had it has been nice to see the emergence of a new young talent in Adam Llalana.
Always assuming that the club can holds on to him which if Lowe returns is far from certain.
That man is the worst thing that has ever happened to any football club is english football and it is our misfortune that he chose to alight in Southasmpton.
Is there no law against directors awarding themselves shares as pay in the companies they are deemed to serve?
Frankly the situation is both frustrating and ridiculous, as well as worrying for the thousands of fans who must be dreading Lowe's return more than the relegation the club has narrowly escaped.

It's a pity that Pearson, and Gorman/Dodd/Burley before him, couldn't see that Adam was a real talent and brought him into the side earlier, not just for the occasional bit part but from kick off for every game. Anyone who thinks that Viafara or Idiakez is better than Lallana wants their head read.

Lallana nearly broke into the first team after Christmas but was held back by injury. Given that Dyer is set to jump ship soon it is nice that we have good young players still coming through. OK, he's no Walcott but if he can hold a place in the first team it's cheaper than buying in a journeyman who might not have the same level of commitment.

I have decided to start a one man crusade to stamp out the objectionable side of the rivalry between our wonderful club and that sad lot on Portsea Island. I have decided to call it Hug a Skate after that Etonian snob now leading Britains other fascist political party. I would like to set the ball rolling by giving Sailor Sam a big hug. He will not be frightened by the prospect as I know he has been hugged by many a sailor in his time. Afterwards I think I shall give that silly boy Skate 657 a big hug but this time I will not let go until I have managed to squeeze every trace of breath out of his worthless body.

We've produced plenty of talent over the years. Some players don't work out for whatever reason. May be off-field issues. They may be late developers.I was surprised to learn a one-time trainee full back released became "Super Kev", Kevin Phillips, goalscorer. Scott McDonald didn't have the pace in our league at the time. Howard didn't work out either.
Hindsight is 20-20 vision as they say.
One of our present problems is selling players to pay the bills. We have become a feeder club. Very sad.
As for Adam, IMO you have to be careful throwing young guys into a team which is losing too much of the time. Especially when they don't have the physical build. You can destroy a player's confidence.
Any way. Let's hope for the best!

I'm going to stick a tenner on Portsmouth to get relegated next year. If Campbell goes and James has a rocky season I can see them struggling- can't see them lifting the cup either.
SOUTHAMPTON FC- CURRENTLY THE LAST TEAM FROM THE SOUTH COAST TO PLAY EUROPEAN FOOTBALL.
pompey to bottle it

Brilliant to see young Lallana given the opportunity. He has been impressive for the last two years! Fingers crossed once the deadwood has been released from Saints, other youngsters such as Mills, Paterson, Hatch, Thomson and White will also be given the opportunity and they to will step up to the mark.

if your one to watch adam in the reserves you soon realise he's the man of the match. centre off the game, playmaker, striker, conrol commitment and in tackles. got a good vision for a good pass. this boy could be [bold]better[/bold] than theo as an all round player in my eyes!

He is 20, an age when some players have obtained a full cap!
What's holding him up?
The coaching?

If, as you say, he is such a talent in the reserves, could it be that that is his level?
Why has it taken so long to progress?
Is it the coaching?
When the first team have been crying out for some such talent, why has the talent you have seen, not been seen by those who make the decisions?

I have just heard that Redknapp and Rupert Lowe
are planning their attack at St mary's stadium, So that Lowe can get his money back and Redknapp wants to get revenge on the ones who called him "judas", as he said he was'nt happy about it. So southampton fans watch your backs and southampton fc be very careful with who you trust because you may be attacted when you least expect it.
