JAKE Thomson netted twice as Saints came from 0-2 down to beat Weymouth 3-2 in a pre-season friendly in Dorset tonight.

The Terras had led 2-0 after just 11 minutes through goals from Stuart Beavon and Pierre Joseph Dubois.

But Saints - who had came from 0-2 down at Eastleigh at the weekend to lead 3-2 before ending up drawing - reduced the arrears through Thompson on 13 minutes.

Jason Euell levelled on 22 minutes and Thomson, playing in the centre of midfield, put Saints ahead four minutes before half-time.

Glad you are looking forward to it Jason as from what I have seen and read so far I am dreading it!
It really comes to something when clearly no other club are bidding for Dyer's service that we seem to be chasing his signature but nonetheless we seem to think he can do a job when clearly he is lightweight in terms of the Championship.
From what I have seen so far it is clearly not what I bought my season ticket for and does anyone know if you can get a refund under the terms of misrepresentation of goods?
PS:- Lets see what its like after West Ham & Stoke? as clearly we cant get excited about any of our victories over the likes of Weymouth & Basingstoke & Winchester!

My Dad forever the Saints optimist and he has been watching them over 70 years said to me this week...we will struggle to stay in that divsion! He has never been so down about the Saints and think he is going to be right!

went to the game tonight, first half was promising, only saw 1 goal though! had no idea it was 3-2. the second half was poor - saints hardly touched the ball. thomson really stood out - clinical passing and tight control. saga looked tired - viafarra injured? came off as I got in. all in all o.k but the second half was poor.

I fear that without some quality full backs beig added to the squad, we are going to let in even more goals this season than we did last. The Championship is a tough league and in the imortal words of the Beestie Boys, "You have to fight for your right to party".

If Popmey & Saints were to merge!!!

What a nightmare, for the designer of the joint ground. How would he be able to realistically combine 21st century red & white at one end with mock-tudor blue at the other?

The car park would also be full all week round, 'cause once those caravans are parked up they'll never move on.

Even merchandising would be diffcult in the combined megastore, with half the shelves being stocked with lucky heather & pegs.

I don't think you can read anything into pre-season games, regardless of the opposition.

I've seen us have bad pre-seasons and start well, good pre-seasons and start appallingly and vice versa.

A big plus has to be that young players will now, for the first time, really start believing they can establish themselves in the first team squad.

That could give them the added impetus to succeed because I can't believe the likes of McGoldrick would previously have honestly thought anything would be good enough to make a regular first team place.

On the down side, I don't know if Jan can really prepare if he doesn't know what senior members of his squad are going to be available.

How does he establish any partnerships upfront if he doesn't know if John or Rasiak will be around for instance.

Also, with the transfer window, we can't afford to find out if young players who look good against Eastleigh will cut it against championship teams unless we have some back-up in place.

That means signing a few old, dependable and cheap players who could step in where needed but who won't mind warming the bench.

Definitely need this back-up in certain areas before the start of the season.

Have to say if Dyer stays that our options in midfield are exciting and will give teams problems.

We all know that defenders in this league aren't generally the most mobile - pace, skill and youth on both flanks and upfront will cause a few problems.

As I've posted before, we go into the season without experienced full backs and we are already shipping goals against non-league teams: no chance of promotion with these kids and old men.
