Promotion or relegation - will either happen?

Who should get the manager's job at Saints? What is the best pairing up front? Is it time to give youth a chance?

These are just some of the topics being chewed over by Saints fans in every living room and pub they frequent.

There are more ways than ever for fans to discuss matters and, whilst face-to-face at the ground or over a pint will never be taken away, there is a greater chance than ever for interactivity and to put your points of view to more than just a few mates.

Here at the Pink we are trying something new to get you involved, and hopefully it will work.

Rather than just a traditional letters page, the type of which newspapers have been running since they first began, we want to encourage as many fans with different ideas, backgrounds and ages to get in touch.

That's why a page in the Pink every week will be reserved for discussing all things Saints.

What we hope to do is to allow people who would never use the internet to share their views with people who would not normally think of doing anything other than posting on message boards and vice-versa.

Each week we will pose a question of the week which could be anything from the ones at the top of this story to discussing the club's best ever left back or indeed anything one of you may suggest.

We will then allow the week to unfold with people able to write or e-mail to us or post their views on our internet site.

Under the Saints section of the Daily Echo website there will be a link to the question of the week.

Here you can post and interact with other uses in the same way as you usually can comment on any of the stories on the Daily Echo website.

Then each weekend in the Pink we will print a selection of the best points made and will also take a look at other issues being discussed and put in a few of the more humorous postings we receive.

Any feedback or ideas for topics will be gratefully received and hopefully this will allow a mixture of people who would not normally share their thoughts to do so.

Happy writing.

The first ever question of the week is:

Promotion or relegation for Saints - will either happen this season?

Having watched most of the FA Cup tie against Bristol Rovers I would have to say relegation is more likely than promotion for Saints this season. But like many of our years in the top flight we have to hope that there are at least 3 teams worse than us over the season.
All credit to Bristol Rovers they deserved to progress and reach the FA Cup Quarter Finals for the first time in 50 years. I'd like to say they were the better team on the day but my concern is that they may be a better side anyway.
I noted in a national paper the Palace manager saying Saints players earn a lot more than his players - Palace are currently 8 places above Saints. If this is true we have real cause for concern.
I've noticed League Clubs are increasingly buying players from Non League clubs, hope Saints have a scout at the England C (non league team) v Wales this Wednesday, there are some real untapped gems at that level.
I hope whoevers in charge of Saints in the summer will be taking a long hard look at the current squad.
As for manager, how about Nick Holmes, 3 promotions with Salisbury City, currently 8th in their first season in the Blue Square Premier. It would be a big step up for Nick but he's Saints through and through. Keep Jason Dodd on as a Coach.
