Following months of preperation there was a great deal of anticipation at Hatches Farm, West Wellow, as the newly formed Wellow Youth played their first league game.

The game started brightly, Littleton showing their pace and strength early on.

The defensive partnership of Harry Field and Adam Cater had to remain resolute as Littleton exurted good pressure.

As time progressed Wellow got more into their stride and started to create chances too; the best one falling to Jo Yandell who was just beaten to the ball by the Littleton 'keeper.

Littleton broke quickly, against the run of play, but man of the match Jackson Howell was on hand to save his team.

The second half continued in the same vein and it was Wellow who took the lead as Rory Saunders curled in a lovely shot, just over the stranded 'keeper.

Going behind seemed to spur Littleton on.

They were soon awarded a free kick and Harvey Thomson found himself in space and was able to slot the ball home.

Ed 'The Cat' Barnes was on call late in the game, as Wellow seemed to tire, to save well at the feet of a Littleton striker.

Overall an excellent game, with a draw probably the right result, played in the right spirit and to a high standard.
