Winchester 2 - Wellow 2

The recent wet weather meant that Wellow hadn't played for a few weeks, but they started this match as they'd finished their previous, in a hard fought battle against Townhill Emperors.

The first half was end to end stuff; Adam Cater and Harry Field were on good form to keep a strong Winchester forward line at bay.

But it wasn't one sided, Joe Yandell and Thomas Farr both had a brace of chances that on another day could have found the back of the net and Winchester went into half time the happier having not conceded.

Wellow really came out of the blocks in the second half and exhurted pressure from the beginning.

There was a goal mouth scramble which resulted in the ball coming out to Callum Greenway who rifled his shot past the approaching defenders and the Winchester goalkeeper.

Despite a claim for a foul, Winchester then equalised.

Wellow showed real character following the equalizer and continued to pressure Winchester; Man of the match Ollie Lambert bossed the midfield and broke down many of the Winchester threats.

Then James Brand showed a moment of class, he took the ball inside a defender and from outside the edge of the area lofted the ball into the top right hand corner to take a well deserved lead.

Winchester then threw the kitchen sink at Wellow, although they controlled the physical challenges that Winchester offered, their striker rode his luck and got the better of the Wellow defence to equalise.
