Hythe Strikers 14 Brendon 1

In comparison to Saturday’s atrocious weather during a friendly, this match was played in perfect conditions.

Our opponents were set back by starting with 9, but it still took a good ten minutes for Strikers to produce any meaningful football.

As with any match that 1st goal inspires everyone, in this case it eased opening game nerves for the home team.

After a succession of brilliant saves from the Brendon “reserve” keeper the deadlock was broken and floodgates associated with uneven sides were opened.

There was a job to do and Strikers did it, although renewed determination from Brendon after half time saw the game even out for a very short period.

As Brendon tired, Strikers began to play some fluent passing football, the quality of crosses and corners a notable feature.

It must be said that the 2nd keeper of the game for Brendon also performed heroics to keep the score down.

Jack (newly invested team Captain) managed the defence immaculately, Charley would not be rounded, Harry produced the right passes, Liam showed shooting prowess and Lewis flew like the wind on the wing, whilst everyone else played their part fully, including Brendon 66 whose determined efforts were creditable.

Strikers Man of the Match (MoM) Max - A number of home players were in with a shout and generally someone who has scored 4 goals may have earned enough plaudits, but his overall commitment, movement, creativity and quality of goals in an irresistible performance earns the 1st Managers MoM.
