PLANS have been submitted to transform the home of Hampshire cricket into a 'Super Bowl'.

A new 18-hole golf course and clubhouse, a 175 bed four-storey hotel, conference rooms, a restaurant and bar and spa leisure facilities are among the proposals for the 160-acre Rose Bowl site.

The ground itself would be transformed with new covered stands to include permanent and temporary seating for up to 25,000 spectators and a state of the art media centre in the North Stand.

Rose Bowl chiefs say they have also included improved access routes in the plans to ease traffic congestion in the area.

Members of the public can submit their comments to Eastleigh Council until January 25.

Crickets a rubbish game, we only invented it to keep to colonials quiet, (and give the aussies skin cancer).
Why bother?

Great!
When this and Ikea opens, I'll be spending my weekends indoors because I won't be able to get on the roads on this side of town...

Good site for 600 foot "Spitfire of the South" on top of Denzil's Ice Rink.

I was thinking more along the lines of knocking down Albion Towers and putting it there.

At least there is some ambition to bring international cricket and make it something to be proud of not like the shower at st mary's! Football used to be fun to watch don't think many saints fans can say that now. Getting international 1 day and 20/20 in the city is the way to go plus you can have a couple of beers while watching!

I love cricket and I love The Rose Bowl but i'm worried that its getting too big and that for 90% of the games it will seem just like The Oval with no atmosphere when a couple of thousand spectators will be scattered around this 25000 seater ground.

what a great idea, lets just hope they have a direct exit route that will lead straight onto the M27.

or maybe they should build a J6 on the M27

the echo states 50 minutes to clear the site with the prposed improvements!

not a 'cat in hells' chance! The rose Bowl should have its own M27 junction but they won't want to pay for it!

minority sport for public schoolboy!
