THE great and the good of Hampshire's amateur theatrical world came together at St Mary's Stadium for the annual Daily Echo Curtain Call Awards.

An audience of around 400 listened intently as the winners of 37 categories were announced by editor Ian Murray and entertainments editor Lorelei Reddin and awards presented by Meridian TV favourite Fred Dinenage.

Romsey Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society (RAODS) scooped the coveted production of the year prize for their version of Gilbert and Sullivan classic Pirates of Penzance, which the judges described as a sparkling performance and absolutely fabulous.

Guests enjoyed a three-course dinner and dancing, as well as entertainment from Chesil Theatre and members of the cast of Innuendo Theatre Group's We Will Rock You.
