Murder squad detectives trying to trace man at cash machine
 |
| Georgina Edmonds |
ENHANCED pictures of a man using a cash card belonging to murder victim Georgina Edmonds have been released today as the hunt for her killer continues.
Detectives have released new CCTV images in the hope that someone will recognise the man, who appears to be hiding his face from cameras.
He can be clearly seen holding the card belonging to the 77-year-old, who had been bludgeoned to death hours earlier at her Brambridge home.
Following a failed bid to withdraw money he walked off from the cash machine in Twyford Road, Eastleigh, on the evening of Friday, January 11.
Police know he headed in the direction of Albert Road, which leads to Consort Road, but want more information about where he went next.
They are hoping drivers in cars passing the machine, which is at the Tesco Express garage, may hold vital information.
Grainy images of vehicles seen at the time have also been released today
in the hope of jogging someone's
memory.
Speaking about the man who used the card, Det Chief Insp Paul Barton said: "We would urgently like to identify this man as we believe he may have some vital information in relation to the murder of Mrs Edmonds.

"The man is wearing a distinctive yellow fluorescent anorak, light-coloured jeans and light-coloured training shoes with three stripes on the sides.
"We have sought the views of an expert and believe this man is around 5ft 11in. It is possible that some of the drivers or passengers of the vehicles may have seen him either at the cash machine or may have seen where he came from or went to and I would urge these people to come forward."
Anyone with any information should contact the Operation Columbian incident room at Hulse Road on 0845 045 4545 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

I might be wrong, but that picture looks awfully like Ms Edmonds to me. Would it not have been a slightly smarter move to post the picture that the police released with this article?

Thank you Echo - that is much clearer now you have put the pic up.
Is there a reason why you won't show all the pictures - other than to make me buy the paper?

The latest "enhanced" cctv picture proves the point that most cctv cameras are a waste of space and money.

I think any images that may jog people's memories are good. It is better to have had that image then nothing at all. Her family will not think the images are a waste of space!
