Beth Trueman - Hampshire’s answer to Lewis Hamilton

SHE'S hoping to be Hampshire's female answer to Formula 1 superstar Lewis Hamilton.

Beth Trueman has just secured her first sponsorship deal for a racing season at two local karting tracks.

The 11-year-old has only been racing for just over a year but coming from a racing family - her parents Amanda and Jason are big fans - she loves nothing more than a weekend racing round a track. Beth suffered a setback in her debut season last year after overturning her kart and breaking her collarbone.

The injury meant three months on the sidelines so she was only able to compete in five out of the ten races.

However now back to full fitness Beth is hoping to kick start her career with a successful season in 2008. She will race in two championships, one at Clay Pigeon Raceway in Dorchester and one at Forest Edge Kart Club, Andover.

Beth said: "I just love going, it's great fun and it means I get to spend more time with my dad. I'm looking forward to this season and hope to complete all the races."

Her mum Amanda said: "I think with the support of her family and the sponsorship from Andover Fork Truck Services she will succeed."

Im sorry, but after watching her helmet footage she is awful, easing off the gas on the straights bye the end of the video the gap is getting big

Being the first time in her new kart and with an engine that had only just been rebuilt (and was being run it in at the time), I can agree that she looked slow but letting of on the gas is what you do to run an engine in.
But on a positive note the latest update is Beth has just raced and was placed 3rd in class and 12 overall at Barton Stacey last Sunday. She is now slowly loosing the fear factor that she had after the accident and is looking forward to gaining more podium places.
