MOST of us have problems jiving with two feet but with tails wagging and pricked ears, these dancing dogs are divas of the dance floor.

Does your terrier do the twist or your poodle do the polka? Does your cockatoo think it’s a crooner, or your dog or cat sing along to the latest chart toppers? Let us know e-mail newsdesk@dailyecho. co.uk or contact Melanie Adams at the Daily Echo on 023 8061 4271.

Do you have a pet with talent?

Disco and Pogo's prancing prowess is a result of the top training techniques of Southampton-based canine freestyle star, Richard Curtis.

Next week Richard, one of television's top dog trainers, will be helping Hamp-shire's dog owners to get their problem pooches dancing to their tune, in aid of the RSPCA's Stub-bington Ark.

Richard and his canine companions are at the top of the dog training sport, winning at Crufts in 2006 with Portuguese waterdog Disco and finishing runners-up at this year's contest with Blue Merle border collie Pogo.

The sport, also known as heelwork to music, is an extension of obedience training, exercising the dogs both physically and mentally in a way that they find fun.

Richard, 34, from Shirley, who has been training dogs since he was nine, said: "The brilliant thing about this sport is that any dog can do it. You can cater each routine to suit the personality of the dog and there are no required elements.

"Any dog owner can come along and see what they can do with their dog and it's a great way to build a bond. You will be amazed at what your dog can do with a bit of training."

Richard is donating his services free to the Ark. All money raised will go towards the Ark Appeal to build a new state-of-the-art veterinary unit.

The event is being held on April 18, at the Mountbatten Centre, Portsmouth. To get your tickets for the event call 01329 666917. Tickets cost £10 for adults and £7.50 for concessions.

Careful, Richard - the animal rights people will have you shut down, like the VW ad!

Why do these dog training types always have easy to train dogs?

Is it because they are not as good as they think

Wouldnt it be great if all dogs eaten in Kruel Korea had rabies?

Why isn't the opening TIME given? Often there is no address - this opening time is important

I wonder if he has ever had sex?

Why do people always say things like

'He has been training dogs since he was nine'

Why not:

'He has been flying commercial transport aircraft since he was five!'

Try doing that with a Newfoundland on your back Richard!

How many times can an audience watch different dogs doing the same routine, hopping on their back legs, running between the trainers legs etc?

If they could spin plates or do double back flips, well that would be worth watching.

Better be careful at the RSPCA though, they dont like performing animal acts, might say he is exploiting the dogs?

I have seen Richard many times. A Portuguese Water Dog and a Blue Merle is certainly not easy dogs to train. As for the RSPCA being dragged into the argument. He is doing the show for the RSPCA who have seen him training his dogs. No harshness there. If the dogs don't want to do it. They won't.
