Brilliant for bargains
 |
| Mother and daughter, both called Halina King |
THEIR husbands
and boyfriends
may disagree but
Southampton women
insist they have an eye
for a bargain.
With the credit crunch squeezing,
households getting value for
money is more important then
ever and 78 per cent of the city's
ladies believe they can sniff out
a good deal, a survey has
revealed.
Whether clammering for buyone-
get-one-free ready meals or
walking off with a pair of discount
shoes, Southampton
women say they are always looking
for the luxury item with a
low-cost price tag.
The city's shoppers are so
hooked on bargain hunting that
56 per cent said the feeling of
finding one makes their pulse
race.

Worse still, 12.5 per cent say the
thrill of bagging a bargain is better
than an intimate night with
their partner while 29 per cent
prefer the heady feeling they get
from making a saving to eating
chocolate.
About 44 per cent said
they were obsessed
with getting something
on the cheap.
The survey by
shopping channel
Bid TV polled
2,000 women,
aged between 18
and 64 years old.

Bid TV host,
Andy Hodgson:
"It's interesting
to see bargain
hunting can make
people feel good -
especially for
women. The results
of our research show
how getting an item for
less than it was initially
worth, not only sets pulses
racing and is highly satisfying
but it also leaves the customer
feeling good."
Retail psychologist Tim
Denison said: "This study confirms
that bargain hunting is
still at the very core of the
British shopper's psyche.
"In fact it suggests that the consumer
expects even more in the
way of a price reduction to enter
bargain' territory than they did
just five years ago.
"Women continue to
lead the way as bargain
baggers. They
have learnt that
patience pays, and
waiting for special
offers often
secures the best
deals."
The Daily Echo
hit the shops to
see if
Southampton
women could spot a
good deal, to find out
if the city was a prime
site for bargain hunters and
what kind of exceptional offers
could be found.

These two fat slags certainly took advantage...so sad about the child who has already got its mouth open for a dollop of chips and a few fatty burgers

What's the baby's name Burga ??
They would get an even bigger buzz from visiting a gym and losing a few stone, then they might enjoy "an intimate night in with then partner"

Look at the state of them! What chance has the poor kid got in life, they can't work as they would be a health risk to others within a confined space.
The child looks like it is waiting for something to fall out of the bag into its mouth. Perhaps someone should tell them that boots have an offer on slimming products at the moment.
