SCORES of people are set to take to the streets of Southampton tonight wearing nothing but two wheels and a helmet.
Protesting against oil dependency and the car culture the Naked Bike Ride will be starting from Southampton Common for the second year running.
Organisers are hoping the revealing event will attract more riders than the 102 people who stripped off last year.
Thea Bjaarland said: "The Naked Bike Ride is a peaceful, imaginative and fun protest against oil dependency and car culture.

"It's a celebration of the bicycle and also a celebration of the power and individuality of the human body.
"The message to people is come as bare as you dare."
Thea said that anyone can join the protest cycle that meets at Highfield Road opposite Southampton Common at 6pm, hitting the streets at 6.30pm.
They will take a route that passes through Portswood and tours the city centre.

I was under the impression that to be naked in a public place was classed as gross indecency and against the law.
Given the advance warning, there should be plenty of Police on hand to make arrests.

They're also using non-agressive tactics, everyones right in a liberal democracy. Religious fundamentalists on the other hand have no logical arguments to use to defend their position, are usually agressive and are not open to reason.
These people have made their choice, fair enough if they believe in what they are doing. Everyone else has made their - completely legitimate - choice of lifestyle. I don't drive or own a car, I would not ever dream of trying to force my choices or opinions on anyone else. These people are very similar to religious fundamendalists who cannot accept that people have varying stand points to their own.

Its all harmless fun unless you fall of your bike. Think its only an offence if someone is offended and complains so knowing Southampton they will. It would not be an issue in Brighton!
