SPORTING a handle bar moustache and a goatee combination, grandfather Mickey Gray fancies his chances winning the Daily Echo's beard competition.
Mickey, 60, a Network Rail worker, of Bloomsbury Walk, Woolston, said: "I buy the Daily Echo every day and the beards I have seen so far are nothing special. But I did see a nice handlebar moustache the other day.
"I have been growing it on and off since 1969 but I shave it off once or twice a year."
Mickey's daughter Elaine Gray sent in a picture of her dad making him the latest entrant in the Daily Echo's search for the best beard in Hampshire. We launched our campaign after Saints star Andrew Surman was seen sporting excess facial hair at the end of the last Championship season.
Calling all hairy monsters! Send your own picture or that of a bearded friend or family member to newsdesk@daily echo.co.uk and include his name, age and occupation.
Alternatively text a photo to 80360 with the message SDEPICS and his details (25p plus operator's charge).
