Man dies after car hits tree

ONE man died and another was seriously injured after a car collided with a tree on Thursday, January 10.

The accident occurred in St Albans Road, 40 metres from the junction with Holland Gardens, at 9.35pm.

The car, a black Honda Civic, is believed to have lost control and left the road. It collided with a tree and flipped over on to its roof, trapping the two men inside.

Firefighters from Watford and Garston were called to the site at 9.40pm to free the driver and his passenger, who died at the scene, from the wreckage.

It took the firefighters an hour to cut the driver out and a further 25 minutes to remove the passenger, a 24-year-old man from Bushey.

The 22-year-old driver, also from Bushey, sustained serious head injuries. He was taken to Watford General Hospital.
