One of the subtle changes in local government is the gradual increase in the number of paper shredders that are to be seen around offices.
Clearly a few more are still needed in Brent at any rate.
A member of the public handed to Notebook some papers which they found at the rear of council offices in Wembley High Road.
The papers, from the social services department, deal with children referred to the authority and included allegations of sexual abuse.
The information could hardly be more confidential and damaging.
Brent Council collected the papers from us and issued a statement saying a thorough investigation would be held.
Council procedures would be reviewed to ensure that information was handled properly.
