A last-gasp converted try in the 10th minute of injury time made it honours even in the derby match between Barnet Saracens Elizabethans and Finchley on Saturday.

An error-strewn first half, interspersed with thunder and lightning, failed to produce a spectacular game with both teams dropping passes in the early exchanges.

BSE, missing two easy kicks, drew first blood when number eight Tony Destro stormed over for the game's first try.

Finchley, down to 14 men with the sin binning of their scrum half, got back into the game courtesy of a penalty and then a try out wide.

In the second half, BSE had more control and possession with Perkins and the centres creating gaps. BSE took the lead when Nick Timson flew over the line and Perkins converted.

When Perkins added a penalty, BSE led 15-8 and Finchley then laid siege to the BSE line.

The BSE defence was breached by Finchley's hooker in injury time which was then converted to level the scores.

BSE are at home to Imperial Medicals at 3pm this Saturday at Byng Road.
