Top bowlers down a triple

Thanks to a solid 22-12 victory over Harperbury last week, Borehamwood Bowls Club's John Roe, Tom Barker and Roy Edwards have booked their places in the forthcoming semi-finals of the St Albans and District Triples competition.

And Roy Edwards has stormed into the quarter-finals of the St Albans and District Officers' Singles tournament, following his 21-17 victory over D Church from St Albans Bowls Club.

However, Borehamwood did not fare quite so well over the weekend, suffering a 85-80 defeat by Radlett Bowls Club in a friendly on Sunday.

Borehamwood's two winning rinks during the friendly won 15-13 and 22-12 respectively. The first rink featured Audrey Page, Sheila Clements and George Leslie. The second Wood rink comprised Bill Mason, Andy Bennett and Vera Biscoe.

Borehamwood's recent winning streak in the Saturday League hit the skids when they lost 70-41 to Bushey Bowls Club.

Though two rinks of Wood ladies defeated Bushey Ladies 27-7 and 19-11. The first Borehamwood rink featured Audrey Page, Doris Edwards, Eileen Mason and Madge Barker. The second Wood rink starred Queenie Harvey, Dot Aslin, Vera Biscoe and Rose Barry.

Borehamwood defeated North Watford Bowls Club in the Friday Night League. Wood's away team John Roe, Arthur Muir, Ron Price and Roy Edwards won 32-14. And the home team featuring Alan Rose, Norman Harrison, Ken Sharp and Tom Barker won 24-14.

On Thursday evening, two rinks of Wood men battled their way to a 45-36 County League victory over Harperbury.

The first Wood rink of John Roe, Alf Dickens, Dave Winter and Roy Edwards won 23-17. The second rink Arthur Muir, Ken Sharp, Ron Price and Tom Barker racked up a 22-19 win.
