There you are minding you own business at the bust stop – and before you know it you are an internet sensation.

Ellie Cole from Millbrook found she was a sensation in Brazil and elsewhere around the globe when she was captured on film boogieing on down to her music player while waiting for her bus home from work in Eastleigh.

Unbeknown to Ellie, her gett9ng her grove on, was then up-loaded to several internet sites and the rest is history.

Hundreds of thousands have enjoyed the sight of Ellie strutting her stuff to, it appears, Knock Down by Aleshia Dixon.

Fair enough (and you can see Ellie in action by visiting dailyecho.co.uk). But there’s a principle here that I’m certain Lord Justice Leveson would have a view on.

What human rights were being infringed in broadcasting Ellie’s moves without her permission. I mean, OK Ellie was bumping and grinding in a public place and you would think anyone who bops in the bus queue would understand that she was likely to go viral. But what if she was Hugh Grant – or Anne Diamond? Would the fact she was a celebrity – albeit a minor one in the case of Miss Diamond these days – mean the new press laws being rushed through Parliament ensure there was a hefty fine on the couple who filmed them without permission?

Who knows. Thankfully Ellie is fine with her new-found global fame. But when the dancing contracts pour in and the agents start getting hoity, I just hope she keeps it real baby.
