I read the suggestion that if the Germans paid the Greeks compensation they feel they are owed for the invasion in 1941 then they could rid themselves of their debt problems.
Fair enough, and we could try that suggestion ourselves with our former World War Two foes. However, no doubt the European Court Of Silliness would rule that as we declared war on them we have to pay the Germans billions instead.
Of course we should be careful going down the road anyway. After our days of empire half the world would probably want compensation.
Mind you, as the Romans nicked our country off us for 400-years the pay back from the Italians would be huge. I think we should settle for a few of their ski resorts and the Italian Lakes always look nice...
