SIX of the ten snooker players in action in the Super League clash between Churchills A and Eastleigh Railway Institute C had one thing in common.
They are all products of the Chandler’s Ford SC Saturday morning junior section.
Churchills captain Mark McLean was taught respect for the game and respect for his opponents from the organiser at the time, Dave Graham.
McLean said: “It’s a brilliant starting point for youngsters.”
As well as McLean, Churchills youngsters Nick Jennings, 18, and Billy Castle, 17, have graduated from the Chandler’s Ford junior leagues.
And on the Eastleigh team were Mitch Wade, Dave Talbot and Danny Gallant.
There is also a liberal smattering of former Chandler’s Ford SC juniors among the other six Super League sides.
Town Champion Mike Finn, Dan Hildyard and Ollie Tydeman turn out for league leaders Woolston Cons A, James Channon plays for Sarisbury Soc A and women’s world number six Suzie Opacic, a two-time under-13 league champion, and Alex Dunkley, a five-time under-16 champion, now cue up for Swaythling B.
