THERE were more centuries scored this week than you can shake a stick at.
And not only by our lads. Some were on the receiving end.
Nick Jennings, currently shivering in a chalet at Pontin’s, Prestatyn, ready for this weekend’s World Pro-Am, described snooker as a “strange game” after a roller-coaster ride in the EASB Q School Satellite Stage 3 at the Grove Snooker Club, Romford.
After two defeats, and before a third, the 19-year-old from Boyatt Wood smacked in 107 and a personal best 140 total clearance against Michael Day (Plymouth).
And we thought that was impressive.
Step forward 14-year-old Adam Bobat from Fareham.
Adam knocked in back-to-back tons in a Pompey league cup match.
He compiled a massive 141 total clearance followed by a 104 at Fareham Snooker Centre against Greg Harding, from Emsworth.
However, Adam was disappointed to only make a 38 in the third frame.
On Sunday, the boot was on the other foot.
Wiltshire’s wannabe professional Ben Harrison had a record-breaking day at the Cuestars South of England Championship Tour in Swindon.
He notched up three centuries, all against our lads.
Chandler’s Ford’s Will Meharg was on the receiving end of a monster 144 total clearance in the group stages, Mark McLean (North Baddesley) had a 130 knocked into him and Adam Nash (Bitterne) got off reasonably lightly, only conceding a 109 in the quarter-finals.
Harrison said: “I could have played better.”
