Stuart Appleby, is a third year journalist student from the University of Winchester.
Born in Southampton, Stuart has always had a keen interest in local sport here in Hampshire. One day he hopes to become a sports journalist, with a job at Sky Sports as a Reporter being his ambition for the future.
Stuart, a previous Southern Daily Echo work experience student, interest in sport writing and broadcasting stemmed from his passion for football when growing up.
As well as writing for the Southern Daily Echo commenting on sport, Stuart also produces content for Winchester’s Hampshire Chronicle and an online football website. In addition, much of his work created as a journalist student at University can be viewed online.

Royals Youth Showcase Talent in Caribbean Final Run
Hampshire Royals young contingent certainly displayed their emerging talent in a Caribbean T20 run which ultimately culminated in a 36 run defeat last night to pre-tournament favourites Trinidad and Tobago at the Kensington Oval in Barbados.

No Boom Boom for Shahid
Less of the Boom Boom Shahid. Pakistan’s tumultuous tour of England finished with a 121-run thrashing at the Rose Bowl last night, meaning the tourists fly home this morning on the end of a three nil series reverse (in all forms of the game) and a begrudging feeling trickling away about the current plight and integrity of Pakistani Cricket amid scandal of betting allegations, corruption and match fixing.

Nigel Adkins baptism of fire as Saints’ boss may have not yielded the solaces of improvement in terms of points collected during his swift tenure in charge thus far, but the ex-Scunthorpe manager looks from the outset, more than capable of the daunting challenge awaiting him.
