REGARDING Chris Bluemel's response to my letter (October 26). His comments on the teenagers of today many will find hard to believe, considering it was recently revealed that our teenagers are the worst behaved in Europe.

I reject his opinion that old people are rude. It is only natural that we pensioners feel isolated and insecure, thus the odd emotional outburst is understandable, which in comparison to murder in the classroom of students and teachers, teenage drinking, drugs and pregnancies problem are on another level.

How do we attempt to put this dire situation to right? National Service in my opinion is the only solution.

Although National Service is very unlikely to be implemented for boys and girls alike, it might prove to themselves that by attempting to climb out of this modern sewer, having reached the surface a new much cleaner and fresher life beckons and slowly respect returns to our society.

I remain appalled to witness the continued degradation within our society, and tryst the additional funds now made available to the very thin blue line (Hampshire Constabulary), that it will prove a benefit to us all, I wish them success in what remains a very difficult job.

Regarding Mr Bluemel's comments on my letter of July this year regarding my criticism of the Lebanese people, with the news that Iran and Syria are threatening to overthrow the elected government of Lebanon, what respect will remain towards Hezbollah when the population of this devastated country find themselves ruled by a bunch of terrorists?

H CLEVERLY, Fair Oak.
