SOUTHAMPTON is the leading cruise ship port in northern Europe and each cruise generates jobs and business.
However Southampton City Council seems to think only rich cruise liner passengers suffer in current traffic chaos. And not locals so no votes lost for Labour.
Once cruise ships leave for Liverpool, Portsmouth, Dover etc let’s see what the Labour council says! Unemployment up and business ruined.
I would not choose Southampton as a starting point of my holiday of a lifetime after having to drag luggage in rain.
Never mind toilet issues.
Solutions?
1. Adverts and announcements warning of traffic eg RAC, AA radio, taxi firms websites cruise firms and Daily Echo.
2. Stop traffic control and roadworks cruise days.
3. Do not paralyse the Itchen bridge at same time.
I should not be political but the “We are aware of some delays' statement of Southampton City Council demonstrates a total lack of business impact intelligence.
The port gives jobs. That should be priority no.1.
