RE: The hotel construction at the Ageas Bowl.

In driving past the current sorry spectacle, I am, daily, reminded of the folly of Eastleigh Borough Council in getting involved in this project; and of course it is on public record that the whole original idea was to prevent Hampshire Cricket going bust.

However, we are where we are and this building needs to be brought to a conclusion.

There have been a number of vague statements from Councillor Keith House regarding the final cost to the council and I would therefore challenge him to state, unequivically, that the council will NOT pay a single penny more than the orginal figure we were given.

Over to you Mr House!

TERRY BUTLER, Southampton.

From the sidelines says...

I'm sure House still sees this as an investment, but the original sum will buy a smaller share of the venture.

Having incurred additional costs, therefore debt, the profits of the venture will be less, after payment of capital and interest.

So, House will have achieved a smaller share of a lower profit. That's got to be good for keeping him in power.
