AT the age of 80 I have avoided the use of trains due to my bad back and not being able to stand.

The other week with my old school dinner at Oakham in Rutland I took a chance – and to my surprise found how good Crossrail trains are.

I had a reserved seat, there was a good trolley buffet and the trains ran to the minute of their timetable.

If Crossrail can do it why not the rest of the network?

You make a rare trip with one rail company, which you enjoy, and use this to criticise the other rail companies that you have not used.

No job in market research for you, old chap.
