READING the Daily Echo like I do every night, I saw a comment about Les Reed, a director of Southampton Football Club.

I can also remember him saying that no players would be sold and in the next minute they’re leaving the club as if it’s got the plague.

Is he saying that even if the players sign a longterm contract they can leave when they feel like it?

My point is, why sign players on long-term contracts?

Mr Reed says there is no point in keeping a player if he is unhappy at the club.

After all the years of hard work bringing the young players through the academy, he, Mr Reed, who had nothing to do with bringing these young players here as he was elsewhere, like Charlton, lets them go and keeps reminding us how much money we got for them.

It’s not the money we want, it’s keeping the players here for Southampton FC.

This club has changed so much and it’s not for the best.
